Attending the meeting, on the VNU-USSH side were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University, along with representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Department of Science and International Relations. On the Korea Foundation side were Mr. Song Guido - President of the Foundation and Mr. Yoon Changshik - Director of the Exchange and Culture Division.

During the meeting, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that the Korea Foundation is one of the important partners that has always accompanied VNU-USSH in the process of building and developing training and research activities on Korea. The Foundation's persistent support has contributed to building a solid foundation for the Korean Studies program at the University to continuously expand its scale, improve its quality, and affirm its position in the academic community.
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment and development of Korean Studies at VNU-USSH. Throughout this journey, the University has consistently received practical support from the Korea Foundation through various activities such as sending experts and lecturers to teach; providing scholarships for students; investing in equipment and smart classrooms; promoting scientific research, publications, and organizing professional forums and seminars. According to Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Korean Studies is not limited to teaching the Korean language or understanding Korean culture, but is increasingly developing in an interdisciplinary direction, connecting with history, politics, economics, society, media, technology, and emerging issues in the region and the world. Training generations of students with strong language skills and a deep understanding of Korea and its people is crucial in fostering mutual understanding and strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Song Guido expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm welcome from the leaders of VNU-USSH and highly appreciated the university's achievements in Korean studies training and research. The President of the Korea Foundation stated that, in the context of the strong development of Vietnam-Korea relations based on a comprehensive strategic partnership, exchanges in language, culture, and people are of particular importance. This forms a sustainable foundation, contributing to social connectivity and deepening the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
Mr. Song Guido expressed his desire to hear the university's insights and suggestions in order to better understand the practical needs in training and research. Based on that, the Korea Foundation will continue to research appropriate forms of support and commit to accompanying VNU-USSH in the development of Korean studies and expanding academic and cultural exchange activities in the future.

During the meeting, representatives from both sides exchanged views on changes in education and research in the age of artificial intelligence. Delegates agreed that technological advancements increasingly demand the enhancement of human values, critical thinking, creativity, cultural understanding, and social responsibility. This also presents an opportunity for social sciences and humanities, including Korean Studies, to play a role in explaining new changes and connecting people in a global environment. Both sides also discussed the possibility of expanding research, internship, and employment opportunities for students; strengthening connections between educational institutions, academics, and organizations and businesses; developing a network of experts; and supporting the next generation of young researchers. Several future project ideas were discussed, aiming for substantive collaborative activities that align with the needs of learners and the development trends of Korean Studies.
