Quality Assurance of 03 University-Level Standard Training Programs: Quality Culture is a Core Value of VNU-USSH

Three accredited undergraduate training programs include Information Management, Information and Library Science, and Tourism and Travel Service Management.
On the morning of January 3, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), in collaboration with the Center for Educational Quality Accreditation, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, organized the official survey for the accreditation of three undergraduate programs in Information Management, Information and Library Science, and Tourism and Travel Service Management, according to the standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The External Evaluation Team (EE) included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong - Vice Rector of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Head of the EE; Mr. Hoang Tho Phu - Head of the Quality Assurance Department of the University of Economics and Law, VNU-HCM, member and Secretary of the EE, along with other permanent members of the team.
Representing the units under VNU Hanoi were Mr. Tran Danh Luc - Deputy Director of the VNU Student Support Center; Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Deputy Head of the Me Tri Dormitory Management Board, VNU Student Support Center; and Mr. Le Ba Lam - Deputy Director of the VNU Library and Digital Knowledge Center.
Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector, along with representatives from the Faculty of Tourism Studies, the Faculty of Information and Library Science, and lecturers, staff, and students from the faculties offering these training programs.

In her opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Rector of the University, emphasized that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has the mission of leading the way in training high-quality, highly skilled human resources; researching, creating, and disseminating knowledge in social sciences and humanities, serving the cause of national construction and defense and international integration. Therefore, the university always considers the quality of training and ensuring the quality of training as its core philosophy and values.
Since 2022, VNU-USSH has been one of 14 training institutions nationwide to undergo the second cycle of accreditation, demonstrating the university's pioneering role in implementing a culture of quality. The accredited programs have received high scores, and the university has also received valuable feedback from education experts and is currently taking steps to improve its programs based on that valuable advice.
In 2023, all training programs were revised, becoming more interdisciplinary and deeply internationalized. From a management, support, and care perspective for students, the university has been involved in activities that accompany students from their early years as potential students, throughout their studies and research at the university, and even after graduation. The university has become a bridge between students and hundreds of businesses, opening up good job opportunities for them.
"The quality assurance of training programs is the school's commitment to implementing a culture of quality, aiming to bring the best values ​​to teachers and students," shared Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong.
At the opening of the official survey, the leaders of the two accredited training units shared information with the Evaluation Team about their three training programs. Accordingly, the schools consistently focus on improving their training programs to align with accreditation criteria and integrate with international training quality standards, while enhancing the practical aspects of training.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Van Hung - Head of the Faculty of Information and Library Science, introduced information about the Information Management major and the Information and Library Science major.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Long - Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, introduces the Tourism and Travel Service Management major.
Expressing her sincere gratitude for the trust placed in her by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in selecting the Accreditation Team from the Center for Educational Quality Assurance, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Hong stated that the Accreditation Team is committed to professionalism, transparency, objectivity, and quality in the accreditation of training programs. The Head of the Accreditation Team affirmed that the highest goal of the survey and evaluation is to provide the most valuable recommendations to help the University improve and enhance the quality of its training programs, for the sake of the quality of education in general.
Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Hong, Head of the Evaluation Team, pledged to work alongside the university in providing recommendations to improve the quality of the training programs.
During the survey period, the Evaluation Team will have meetings and working sessions with the school's leadership, leaders of training units, functional departments/centers, lecturers, students and alumni, and business organizations employing students from the school... They will also survey data related to training programs to gain objective assessments of the training programs.
Previously, on December 20, 2023, the Accreditation Team conducted surveys and discussions with the units surveyed (Offices of the two Faculties; Department of Human Resources, Training, Research Management, Politics and Student Affairs, Department of Cooperation and Development, Center for Quality Assurance of Training) and surveyed the physical facilities (facilities serving the official survey of the Accreditation Team, facilities serving the three training programs).
The official survey at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi will take place from January 3rd to January 6th, 2024.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by leaders of units under VNU Hanoi and faculties and functional departments of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

As a core unit of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH) has always been a pioneer in accreditation and improving the quality of education. To date, VNU-USSH has 12 programs that have been accredited according to AUN-QA standards, and 15 programs that have achieved accreditation according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. From the end of December 2023 to January 6, 2024, the university will continue to accredit three more programs according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (Information Management, Information - Library Science, and Tourism and Travel Service Management).
