VNU-USSH has 3 more training programs evaluated according to AUN-QA quality standards

The direct assessment by the Evaluation Team according to the AUN-QA standards was conducted from October 31 to November 2, 2023 for 04 training programs, including 03 bachelor's programs of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH) in Sociology, Psychology and International Studies and 01 bachelor's program in Nuclear Engineering Technology of the University of Natural Sciences. On November 2, the closing ceremony took place at the 8th floor Hall of Building E of VNU-USSH.
Attending the closing ceremony, on behalf of the 358th AUN-QA Assessment Team, there was the presence of Prof. Dr. Rohaida Mohd. Saat, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia, Head of the Assessment Committee and Assessors of 04 training programs of 2 universities.

On the side of Hanoi National University, there was the presence of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Director, Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy - Director of the Institute for Education Quality Assurance.
On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, there were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Principal of the school, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Principal, Dr. Pham Huy Cuong - Director of the Center for Education Quality Assurance; Leaders of departments and centers under the Rectorate, along with staff and lecturers from the faculties of International Studies, Psychology, and Sociology.
On the side of VNU University of Science, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc Binh - Vice Rector; along with departments and lecturers of the school.
During 02 working days, with a very urgent, serious and scientific spirit, the members of the Evaluation Team conducted research on self-assessment reports, supporting documents, and directly interviewed relevant parties, including: Leaders of training units, lecturers, students, alumni, support staff, employers; surveyed the facilities of the University of Natural Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Center for Library and Digital Knowledge, Center for Student Support, VNU Hospital... to have a comprehensive assessment of these training programs.
At the closing session, members of the External Evaluation Team presented specific evaluation reports on each training program, highlighting strengths and making recommendations on a number of areas that need improvement to improve the quality of training programs. Accordingly, experts highly appreciated the strengths of the training program development process that was conducted scientifically and clearly defined output standards; training programs were regularly evaluated and innovated; the teaching staff were leading experts and regularly trained to improve their qualifications; the application of achievements in information technology and digital transformation in teaching and learning (electronic lectures, digital data, modern teaching methods, etc.) was enhanced; scientific research and international academic exchanges among both lecturers and students were conducted regularly and with high results. Experts emphasized and highly appreciated the chain of community support activities of the Sociology and Psychology training programs.

The members of the Evaluation Delegation presented a report highly appreciating the strengths and achievements and recommending some points for improvement of the 04 training programs.
In addition, the External Evaluation Team also pointed out a number of points that need to be focused on improving in the coming time: The training program focuses more on improving foreign language skills and soft skills, integration capacity for students, especially in the context of moving towards the 5.0 industrial era; improving some conditions of facilities, creating more self-study spaces, creative spaces, practice, and experiments for learners; needing to strengthen connections with employers to support students during their studies as well as after graduation in order to find jobs that best promote the knowledge and skills they have learned;

With the dedication and hard work of the staff, lecturers and students, the achievements in training and research of VNU member schools will certainly play a greater role in realizing the 2050 vision of higher education in Vietnam.

Speaking at the closing session, VNU Vice President Nguyen Hoang Hai said that VNU has always been a pioneer and proactive in participating in quality assurance activities for training programs according to national and international standards, including AUN-QA. VNU is also the first higher education institution in Vietnam to establish a specialized unit for quality assurance (Institute for Education Quality Assurance) to maintain and develop a comprehensive quality culture. Increasing the number of training programs accredited according to international standards is also one of the important solutions for VNU to achieve the goal of entering the world's Top 500 by 2030.

Up to now, VNU has had nearly 60 training programs accredited according to the AUN-QA standards. This demonstrates VNU's dedication to continuous improvement in education. This rigorous assessment process not only reflects VNU's determination to provide high-quality intellectuals for education in Vietnam, but also fulfills its commitment to continuously improve training quality to bring many benefits to students and to the whole society.
The recommendations from the experts of the External Evaluation Team were truly valuable and accurate suggestions, helping us to see more clearly the points that need to be improved to further enhance the quality of the training programs.
As a core unit of VNU, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has always been a pioneer in assessing and improving the quality of training. Up to now, VNU-USSH has had 9 training programs certified for quality assessment according to AUN-QA standards, 15 training programs have been certified for quality assessment according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. In 2023, the school will continue to evaluate 03 training programs according to AUN-QA standards (training programs in Psychology, Sociology, International Studies) and assess 03 more training programs according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (Information Management, Library Information, Tourism and Travel Services Management).
