While in 2000 Vietnam only welcomed 2.1 million international tourists and 11.2 million domestic tourists, by 2018, the Vietnamese tourism industry had welcomed 15.6 million international tourists and served over 80 million domestic tourists. Along with this tourism boom came the rapid development of national and international-standard restaurants and hotels nationwide. This has led to a severe shortage of human resources in the tourism and hospitality industry, making Hotel Management one of the most promising fields of study in Vietnam. We had a conversation with Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, about the Faculty's training program and the career prospects of students studying this field.
