11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
- The thesis is one of the first works to conduct in-depth research on the press on the issue of Customs modernization reform in Vietnam, which is appropriate and necessary in the context of the Government and ministries strengthening reform and innovation in management activities to meet the goal of both better serving the needs of society and improving the capacity and efficiency of the national administration in the current period of development and international integration.
- The thesis uses a combination of specialized and interdisciplinary research methods of media journalism, mass media sociology, including 06 main methods as follows: Document research method; Content analysis method; Sociological investigation method using questionnaire; In-depth interview method; Case study method; Comparative method. At the same time, the thesis applies the theories of "Agenda Setting", "Framing" theory, "Use and Gratification" theory to conduct research.
- The thesis topic has a new research scope for 6 press agencies in Vietnam (2 types of print and electronic newspapers), focusing on researching and evaluating specifically and systematically the current information status of the press, drawing out the successes and limitations and the causes of the successes and limitations of the press when reflecting on the issue of reforming and modernizing Vietnam Customs.
- The thesis conducted a public survey using questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and case studies to assess the role and impact of the press on the issue of reforming and modernizing Vietnam Customs.
- Data, research results and conclusions do not overlap with theses defended domestically and internationally; do not overlap with scientific works of other authors published domestically and internationally.
- The thesis analyzes a number of issues, thereby proposing necessary solutions to enhance the role, quality, and effectiveness of the press's impact on the reform and modernization of Vietnam Customs, in line with the development trend of modern press, the reform and innovation trend of Customs in the world, as well as meeting the rapid development of international trade activities between Vietnam and other countries in the world.
12. Practical application:
- The thesis is a useful reference for policy makers, leaders, press managers, journalists, state administrative agencies, customs sector, researchers, lecturers at training and research institutions of press and communication.
- The thesis helps State management agencies, including the Customs sector, have more scientific basis to evaluate the results of the communication process, draw out the successes and limitations of the press and the causes of successes and limitations, thereby enhancing the role of the press to both better serve the needs of the public and promote innovation, reform and modernization of State management agencies towards serving the interests of people, businesses and the social community.
- For press agencies, the thesis is a reference document for press and media agencies in Vietnam to apply in practice to develop information plans on the activities of state management agencies, in order to affirm and enhance their role in participating in solving current socio-economic issues.
13. Further research directions:
From the research results of the thesis topic, it is possible to open up further research directions of the PhD student to supplement and further perfect the research results of this topic. Expected future research directions are as follows:
- Expand the survey of press information in radio and television; expand the survey of the public including customs officials and relevant state agencies, businesses, and people in all areas with international trade exchange activities, to deeply evaluate the role and effectiveness of communication on Vietnam's Customs modernization reform.
- Expanding research on the role and impact of communication on social media platforms on Customs modernization reform. Because the research results of the thesis also show that social media is preferred by the public when accessing information. Customs agencies around the world today also focus on communication on social platforms.
- Expanding research and evaluation of the press and media on public activities and policies that have a close impact on the rights and interests of the community in order to draw theoretical and practical lessons for State administrative agencies in general and the Customs sector in particular.

13. Future research directions:
From the research results of the thesis title, it is possible to open up the following research directions for the PhD student to supplement and further improve the research results of this title. Expected future research directions as follows:
- Expand press information surveys in all types of radio and television; expand the survey to the public including Customs officials and relevant State agencies, businesses, and people in all areas with international trade activities to deeply assess the role and effective communication on Vietnam's Customs modernization and reform.
- Expand research on the role and impact of media on social networking platforms on Customs reform and modernization. Because the research results of the thesis also show that social media is favored by the public when accessing information. Customs administrations around the world today also focus on communication on social platforms.
- Expand research and evaluation of the media to activities and public policies that have impact on the rights and interests of the community in order to draw theoretical and practical experiences for State administrative agencies and the Customs sector.
