- Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- The thesis assessed the current state of parenting behavior and deviant behavior in high school students. Specifically: Regarding parenting behavior, controlling children's psychology was the highest-rated behavior group among high school students, followed by supportive parenting, and finally, controlling children's behavior. However, the average scores of the three behavior groups were not significantly different, indicating that, in addition to a typical parenting style, parents also use a combination of other behaviors, depending on the specific situation and behavior of their children.
- Regarding deviant behavior in schools, the majority of high school students exhibit below-average levels of deviant behavior. Of the four groups of deviant behaviors, the group involving violations of school rules and regulations has the highest level of violation, followed by behaviors related to school communication and conduct, thirdly, bullying, and finally, behaviors related to sexuality.
- Regarding the relationship between deviant behavior in high school students and parental behavior: There is a strong correlation between parental behavior and deviant behavior in high school students. Research shows that if parents exhibit low levels of support, loose behavioral control, but high levels of psychological control, high school students tend to exhibit more deviant behaviors. Conversely, parents with high levels of support, high levels of behavioral control, and low levels of psychological control help reduce deviant behavior in high school students.
- Regarding factors that may predict the relationship: Family bonding, regional cultural characteristics, and the marital status of parents are predicted to be three factors influencing the relationship between deviant behavior in high school students and parenting behavior.
- Practical applications:
The research findings of this thesis are timely and valuable for research, education, educational guidance, and school psychological counseling.
- Further research directions:
Expand the scope of research on the relationship between deviant behavior in high school students and parenting behavior in provinces and cities nationwide.
