- The thesis is the first work to systematically study the post-war Vietnam War novels in Vietnamese and American literature from a comparative perspective with the ambition to perceive the reflection of the war in literature from both sides, clarify the similarities and differences of the two literary streams in the way of explaining and interpreting, the way of feeling and recreating the war.

- From new research perspectives in terms of cultural studies and poetics, the thesis re-illuminates familiar Vietnamese war literature phenomena under different dimensions and aspects, offering different interpretations compared to previous approaches.

- The thesis is also an overview of the novel works about the Vietnam War in the US, which are not much interested and known in the current domestic research situation, and at the same time provides a decolonial reading from the Vietnamese perspective with the works on the US side.
