The thesis is the first specialized work to study literary memoirs of Vietnamese writers from 1986 to present from the perspective of artistic thinking. The thesis has:
- Presenting a unique concept of artistic thinking in the memoir genre, a genre with its own unique characteristics compared to other genres, especially its almost direct connection with the context of the times and ideology, artistic consciousness, gender factors,...
- Outline in general and the nature of the development process of Vietnamese literary memoirs throughout its history of formation and development, focusing on the period from 1986 to present.
- Point out the characteristics of artistic thinking in Vietnamese literary memoirs from 1986 to present from different perspectives: from "conceptual codes", artistic images to narrative methods.
- Contribute to discovering and identifying the advantages and limitations in terms of content and main techniques of Vietnamese literary memoirs from 1986 to present as a tool to guide the education of knowledge and aesthetics for today's literary readers.

10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
The thesis is the first project focusing on studying artistic thought presented in literary memoirs written by Vietnamese writers in the period from 1986 up to present. The thesis does the following:
- Giving out a nuanced conception of “artistic thought in memoirs”, a literary genre which has unique characteristics in comparison to other ones, especially in terms of its close relationship with contemporary social and ideological context, artistic awareness, gender consciousness, so forth and so on.
- Sketching out the movement of Vietnamese literary memoirs in its long history, especially in the period from 1986 up to now.
- Pointing out some characteristics of “artistic thought of Vietnamese literary memoirs from 1986 up to now” on three aspects: conceptual code of literary memoirs, artistic figures, and artistic methods.
- Contributing to exploring and identifying the advantages and disadvantages in the content and form of Vietnamese literary memoirs from 1986 up to now, so that the readers can nowadays have a good understanding and aesthetic awareness to help read them well.
