10. Summary of the thesis results:
The trainees conducted in-depth research, interviews, and surveys on gender equality, the status, and challenges faced by poor rural women. The findings revealed that poor women have limited awareness of gender equality and their status within the family. Most women do not fully understand gender equality and their position in the family, particularly regarding access to credit. To help poor women gain confidence and develop their potential, the trainees, in collaboration with women's associations and poor women in the commune, organized group activities for them.
The results obtained by the trainees reflected the reality of poverty and the status of poor rural women, especially their position within the family in accessing loans, in decision-making and implementation, and in their right to discuss and deliberate within the family. From the results of in-depth interviews and document review, it was found that women were largely unaware of their potential, valuing their husbands' roles but downplaying their own. Conversely, husbands underestimated their wives' roles in family matters.
Currently, social work activities are non-existent in Dong Luong commune. Village activities such as monthly village meetings are ineffective and lack long-term sustainability. Therefore, applying group social work intervention through this method is entirely suitable for the commune's conditions. With this approach, the initial results have been quite successful, and the set goals have been achieved to a certain extent. We would like to propose a model of group social work with poor women to help them understand the causes and consequences of their poverty, and to help them raise their awareness and develop their potential.
11. Practical applications:
Community-based social work is a positive approach that should be promoted and developed in communes, especially poor communes. Through group activities and specific events, the status of poor women is enhanced.
