Thesis nResearch and survey the characteristics of euphemisms in Chinese, related to Vietnamese, specifically: establishing criteria for determining euphemisms, structural models, semantic characteristics of euphemisms as well as their usage. At the same time, the thesis surveys the case of translating euphemisms from Chinese to Vietnamese through the work "Dream of the Red Chamber in Chinese and Vietnamese", thereby pointing out the types of Sino-Vietnamese euphemism translations. Through that, the thesis points out the cultural and linguistic characteristics of each nation (China and Vietnam) reflected in euphemisms, specifically the way of avoiding speech of each nation.
12. Practical application
The results of the study on euphemisms can be applied to teaching, helping to improve the quality of teaching Chinese and Vietnamese as a foreign language as well as the practice of translating Chinese - Vietnamese. The results of the study are also reference materials for compiling textbooks and reference materials for Chinese teaching programs for Vietnamese people as well as teaching Vietnamese to Chinese people.

Continue to conduct comprehensive and in-depth research on Sino-Vietnamese euphemism comparison. Towards compiling a Sino-Vietnamese bilingual dictionary on euphemisms.

The thesis studied and investigated the characteristics of euphemism in Chinese in comparison with Vietnamese including building criteria for determining euphemism, structural models, and semantic features of euphemism as well as their usage. At the same time, the thesis studied cases of euphemism translation from Chinese to Vietnamese through a work "Dream of the Red Chamber in Chinese and Vietnamese", accordingly indicating the types of Chinese-Vietnamese euphemism translation. Then, the thesis also points out cultural and lingual characteristics of each nation (China and Vietnam) to be reflected in the euphemism, especially in use of euphemism of each nation.
12. Practical applicability
Research results of euphemism can be applied to teaching in order to improve the quality of teaching Chinese and Vietnamese as a foreign language as well as the real situation of the Chinese – Vietnamese translation. In addition, the results are used as a reference for the compilation of textbooks and Chinese curriculum for Vietnamese people as well as Vietnamese curriculum for Chinese people.
