This dissertation conducts an in-depth study of the functional impact of poetic language in the poetry of To Huu and Che Lan Vien, a topic that has been addressed by researchers but not yet explored in depth. Therefore, this topic contributes to the theoretical study of poetry from a linguistic perspective. That is, the dissertation expands the study of poetic language in terms of: message organization and interpersonal relationships.
From the perspective of message organization, the poetry of To Huu and Che Lan Vien demonstrates positive impacts. Aspects such as poetic themes, imagery construction, poetic form, poem structure, and rhetorical devices create a way of organizing the poetic message to influence the reader's perception and thoughts. This is a particularly important aspect because the language used in poetry is arranged to maximize the expressive potential of the poetic sentiment and meaning.
Speech acts, expressed in poetic form, have a very special impact. Each speech act has specific linguistic means of expression and delivers different impactful values. The survey results demonstrate that poetry's path is from the heart to the mind and action.
