Summary of the thesis's new findings: Firstly, this is the first work in our country to research the life, career, and thought of Herbert Marcuse; analyzing, clarifying, and systematically presenting Herbert Marcuse's understanding and application of Marxist theory. Secondly, it analyzes and evaluates the dialectics and historical materialism of C. Marx as understood and applied by Herbert Marcuse in criticizing the dogmatization of Marxism, the negative consequences of science and technology, the contradictions and paradoxes, the dominance and alienation in modern industrial society. Thirdly, it points out Herbert Marcuse's limitations in not overcoming his bourgeois intellectual standpoint, thus rejecting the revolutionary and scientific fundamental principles of Marxism; therefore, his criticism of modern capitalist society is not thorough and is not a complete negation of it. Fourthly, it provides an objective and fair assessment of Herbert Marcuse and his understanding and application of Marxist theory in "The One-Dimensional Man."

Thirdly, the limitation of Herbert Marcuse is pointed out that it did not overcome the bourgeois intellectual viewpoint, so it refused to comprehend the revolutionary and scientific fundamental principles of Marxism. Therefore, the criticism of modern capitalist society is not thorough, not its negation. Fourthly, an objective and fair assessment of Herbert Marcuse and the comprehension and application of Marxist theory in “One-Dimensional Man” is made.
