11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
In Vietnam, the study of PNCK according to this new approach has only appeared in the last ten years and has attracted much attention. However, this is the first work to study the equivalent translation of PNCK in an English literary work into Vietnamese.
Previously, there were authors who chose the same original and the translation to compare the translation equivalence, but this is the first work to compare the translation of the PNCK of the same English literary work in 2 Vietnamese translations and explain the similarities and differences between the 2 translations from the perspective of language and culture. Obviously, translation (especially literary translation) includes the translator's choice of words or expressions according to their own preferences, style and feelings to inspire the reader. Therefore, different translations of the same text can be very different. They show the style, talent and perception of different translators.
Previous authors focused on studying authentic imperative sentences in Vietnamese, with the central verb being imperative; at the same time, they also used sentences that are in the form of imperatives but the central verb is not imperative, comparing them with authentic imperative sentences. This is also the direction we are interested in, but we will exploit it more specifically in our thesis with the form of direct and indirect imperative sentences, comparing between English and two Vietnamese translations by two different translators to find similarities and differences. This is also a new point of the thesis that has not been paid attention to by previous researchers.
12. Practical application:
The research results of the thesis are reference materials for those who study translation, literary translation from foreign languages ​​and are a useful reference source for teaching and learning translation in modern English teaching and learning. Moreover, the research results are also useful in the practical application of imperative utterances to achieve appropriate imperative purposes in communication.
13. Further research directions:
Due to the limited scope of the thesis, in the process of studying the translation equivalence of English-Vietnamese PNCKs, we found that there are still some issues that need to be further studied: Firstly, the thesis only stopped at surveying and evaluating the translation equivalence according to 4 criteria, but has not studied all the criteria for evaluating equivalence according to the dichotomous pair of form and content. Secondly, the thesis only delves into the case study of the Order subgroup and the Invitation/Suggestion subgroup as one of the typical examples of the competitive and sociable PNCK group. The remaining issue is to study all the subgroups in these two large groups to have the most comprehensive and general view of the translation equivalence of English-Vietnamese PNCKs.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
In Vietnam, it takes over ten years for the study on requests in this new approach and grabs much attention. However, this is the first study to investigate Translation Equivalence of English-Vietnamese Requests in one literary work.
Previously, there was one author who chose the same source text and target text to collate translation equivalence, but this is the first work to compare the translation of requests of the same English literary work in two Vietnamese translations and explain the similarities and differences between two translations from a linguistic and cultural perspectives. obviously, translation (especially literary translation) involves word choice or expressions according to the translators' preferences, styles, and feelings to inspire the readers. Therefore, different translations of the same text can be very different, which shows the unique style, talent and sensibilities of different translators.
The previous authors focused on Vietnamese realistic requests with clear illocutionary force; or sentences in form of requests but without illocutionary force of requests; then, compare them with the real ones. This is also our favorite direction, but in our thesis, we will exploit more specifically the forms of direct and indirect requests, comparing between English source text and two Vietnamese translations of two different translators to find out the similarities and differences. This is also a new point of the thesis that has not been of interest to previous researchers.
12. Practical applicability, if any:
This is a reference for those who study translation and literary transcription from forein languages ​​and a useful source for teaching and learning translation in modern English. Moreover, the findings of our research can be of use in successful daily conversations when making reasonable requests.
13. Further research directions, if any:
Due to the length limit of the thesis, in the process of researching English-Vietnamese request translation equivalence, some issues need to be further studied: First, the thesis has just investigated the translation equivalence according to 4 criteria, not all equivalent evaluation criteria in dichotomous pairs of the form and the content. Second, the thesis just narrows the study on the Order and Suggest subgroups as the representatives of competitive and sociable requests. It remains open to exploit all the subgroups in these large groups to have the overview of how to equivalently translate English requests into Vietnamese.
