Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University is an educational institution established in 1896, marking its 130th anniversary. Known as “Bansomdejchaopraya,” it was founded on the initiative of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) to create a public university in the British style. Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) boasts a highly capable faculty, playing a vital role in the university's development. Their dedication helps the university train future national leaders, ensuring students thrive on campus and make positive contributions to society. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH) is a long-standing and traditional partner of BSRU on the Vietnamese side (nearly 30 years).
To commemorate its 130th anniversary, BSRU organized the international scientific conference “Pathway of wisdom: Creative innovation emerging from local context and cultural heritage”. The delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities consisted of 7 members, led by Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, the Rector.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan presented his report at the conference.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan's report was one of the three keynote presentations at the conference. In this forum, which included numerous representatives from higher education institutions in Thailand and internationally, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan presented his report, "Digital transformation in ASEAN higher education in the field of social sciences and humanities," with the following noteworthy points:
In the context of the digital age and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation is becoming a strategic priority for ASEAN higher education, with a common orientation towards humanistic, inclusive, and sustainable approaches in line with UNESCO and ASEAN recommendations. However, digital transformation is not just a technological issue but requires the guidance of humanistic thinking, especially from the social sciences and humanities, to ensure that technology serves people rather than dominates them. Higher education institutions are urged to shape their digital mindset based on four core principles: creativity and proactiveness, responsible data use, human-centered design, and adherence to technological ethics. ASEAN practice shows a strong trend towards the development of interdisciplinary training programs, online learning, micro-certifications, and applied AI research, particularly in the fields of language and cultural diversity preservation. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi is a pioneering example in establishing a digital transformation vision of “understanding people before digitizing” and building a systematic and humanistic digital and AI competency framework. The university integrates digital skills and AI literacy into its teaching, while developing a digital culture that emphasizes ethics, privacy, and critical thinking. Furthermore, VNU-USSH actively participates in international cooperation and policy-making, contributing to the development of a “Humanities – Technology – Innovation” ecosystem. Overall, this experience affirms that the success of digital transformation in higher education depends first and foremost on innovative thinking, human development, and the building of a humanistic and sustainable academic culture.

The workshop attracted representatives from universities in Thailand and internationally.
