Undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculty receive comprehensive training, equipping them with theoretical knowledge linked to practical applications and providing hands-on research experience in communities, museums, NGOs, and opportunities to interact with international students and scientists.
With a teaching philosophy that places students at the center, the Department of Anthropology and Religious Studies always supports students in developing their thinking and practical skills according to their abilities and passions. Many undergraduate and postgraduate students have embarked on exploring scientific research topics related to human culture and society in Vietnam and other countries in the region. Several undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students from the Department have won scholarships for short-term and long-term study abroad programs.
The department always prioritizes a student-centered approach and strives to serve its students. Students majoring in Religious Studies are provided with the best possible learning environment: from information about the curriculum and courses, access to and use of learning materials (books, textbooks, journals, online resources), to participation in scientific research under the guidance and instruction of reputable professors, doctors, and lecturers.
Students from families receiving preferential treatment, such as children of martyrs, war invalids, disabled veterans, and victims of Agent Orange, are promptly recommended by the Department to the University's Political and Student Affairs Office for the allocation of educational subsidies according to regulations. In addition to academic achievement scholarships and scholarships sponsored by organizations and individuals both domestically and internationally, the Department and the QH-2016-X Religious Studies cohort received 5 scholarships worth 5 million VND each, and the QH-2016-X part-time students received 4 scholarships worth 5 million VND each, sponsored by My Son Group, for the 2016-2017 academic year.
With its strength as the only institution in Vietnam offering a full-time program in Religious Studies from Bachelor's to Master's and Doctoral levels, the Faculty of Anthropology and Religious Studies prioritizes and creates favorable conditions for scientific research to become a widespread activity among students, attracting an increasing number of students with ever-increasing scale and quality. The first cohort of Bachelor of Religious Studies QH-2016-X had 22 scientific reports out of a total of 40 students, achieving the following results: 7 reports winning awards at the Department level, 1 report winning third prize at the University level, and a third prize for the student research group. Students achieving high results in scientific research will receive bonus points on their academic transcripts and have the opportunity to receive numerous scholarships from domestic and international organizations and businesses; they may have the opportunity to study abroad and may be recommended by the Department to the University for faculty positions after graduation.
Students also have the opportunity to participate and challenge themselves in all fields: culture, arts, society, community activities, etc. Regular extracurricular activities are organized throughout the academic year by the Youth Union, the Student Association of the University, and the Departments, such as: activities celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day, the Gottalent USSH competition, football, Miss & Mrs USSH, etc.
Every year, students from the Faculty of Anthropology and Religious Studies enthusiastically register to participate in volunteer activities, including: "Supporting the High School Entrance Exam Season", "Supporting the University and College Entrance Exam Season", "Taking the Lead in Local Areas", "Student Blood Donation Campaign Team", "Student Volunteer Team for Environmental Activities"... Students have the opportunity to participate as members of the University's clubs such as Sol Club, Garnet Club, Hoa Da Club, Rumbo Club, Bach Dien Club, and the Cultural and Historical Propaganda Club....
The Faculty regularly organizes extracurricular activities related to its specialization and field trips: visiting temples, historical and cultural relics for students... In the 2016-2017 academic year, the QH-2016-X Religious Studies cohort had field trips, surveyed ancient temples in the Hanoi area, visited Tam Dao - Tay Thien - Truc Lam Zen Monastery, and visited Hanoi Cathedral...
