A delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand.

The delegation was personally received by Counselor Hoang Diem Hanh and had extensive discussions on cooperation programs in education and cultural diplomacy.

At the beginning of the working session, the delegation reported to the Embassy on the progress and results of their trip, notably the successful signing of an agreement with the Mekong Subregion Higher Education Network in Ubon Ratchathani.

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son reported on the results of his work and proposed tasks to the representative of the Embassy.

Looking back at the cooperation process, the school's representative stated that, continuing the directions agreed upon at the meeting with Ambassador Pham Viet Hung in August 2024, the school has been persistently implementing a long-term roadmap to spread the Vietnamese language and culture in Thailand. Key areas of focus include: organizing a Vietnam Studies conference in Thailand; opening classes on Vietnamese language teaching methods and assessing Vietnamese language proficiency for foreigners; and international publishing cooperation.

Simultaneously, the university actively advises and provides experts in the fields of ethnic cultural preservation, linguistics, Southeast Asian studies, Asian studies, and research on the Thai-Vietnamese community. The exchange of scholars, sending Vietnamese students to intern in Thailand, and welcoming international students and researchers to work and conduct fieldwork at the university have also been promoted. Thanks to this orientation, the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Faculty of Linguistics & Vietnamese Studies have built strong links with the Thai Embassy in Vietnam, particularly in developing Thai studies programs and promoting the Vietnamese language among the Vietnamese diaspora in Thailand.

Also within the framework of the meeting, on behalf of the Conference Organizing Committee (comprising Thammasat University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), the University extended an official invitation to the Embassy to attend the international scientific conference commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand. The conference is scheduled to be held on August 26, 2026, at Thammasat University, Tha Prachan campus. In particular, the organizing committee respectfully invites the Ambassador or a leader from the Embassy to present a keynote report on the 50-year journey of excellent diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Counselor Hoang Diem Hanh shared that Vietnam-Thailand relations are currently developing very well, especially after the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Thailand and the subsequent official visit of the Thai Prime Minister to Vietnam. On behalf of the Ambassador, the Counselor happily accepted the invitation to attend and affirmed that the Embassy would deliver a welcoming speech at the upcoming conference. She highly appreciated the efforts of the University, emphasizing that the educational and training direction of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is entirely consistent with the Embassy's policy, especially in teaching Vietnamese to Vietnamese expatriates in Thailand as well as activities to spread Vietnamese culture in the Land of the Golden Pagoda.

At the end of the working session, Counselor Hoang Diem Hanh pledged to continue accompanying and strengthening the role of a bridge, promoting student exchanges between universities in Thailand and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Notably, the Embassy will support in introducing valuable scholarship sources for students majoring in Thai Studies in the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The visit and working session not only strengthened the close relationship between the University and the Embassy, ​​but also opened up many practical opportunities, directly contributing to the goal of human resource development and deepening the friendship between Vietnam and Thailand.
