This meaningful annual event further affirms the principle of "respecting teachers and valuing learning," expressing profound gratitude to the ancient sages and virtuous figures, and the aspiration to extend the nation's university tradition in the new era.
The Temple of Literature – National University is a symbol of the Vietnamese people's tradition of valuing learning and respecting talented individuals. The doctoral steles, commemorating the names of talented people over the centuries, not only honor intellect but also remind us of the responsibility of intellectuals to the nation and its people. In this sacred space, teachers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities respectfully offer incense to commemorate the ancestors who founded the university, the emperors who contributed to the construction of the Temple of Literature, the scholar Chu Văn An, and other illustrious scholars who "cultivated the garden of national learning."

The highlight of the ceremony was the reading of the commemorative address by Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, the Rector of the University. His solemn and respectful tone perfectly conveyed the aspirations of the entire university community before the spirits of the Saints, Sages, and Ancestors.
We vow:
Cultivating virtue, honing talent, uniting the nation and the times.
High foundation, solid base, rich in national character and humanistic values.
We kindly request:
With the help of Saints, Sages, and Ancestors,
Everyone will be blessed with good fortune, prosperity, health, and peace.
"Clever minds, kindred spirits, and harmonious intentions."
These vows not only carry the ritualistic significance of the spring festival but also serve as a declaration of values for the path of future development.
In particular, the message "Bright Mind, Shared Heart, Harmonious Will" is emphasized as the guiding spirit of the University in the new year: intellect must be illuminated by knowledge and responsibility; the collective must be united in its goals; and will must harmonize to create the strength for sustainable development. This is also a prerequisite for the University to fulfill its pioneering mission in training high-quality human resources, researching and disseminating knowledge in social sciences and humanities, serving the cause of national construction and defense, and international integration.
With over 80 years of tradition from the Faculty of Literature, through the University of Hanoi, to 30 years under the name of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, generations of teachers and students have continuously cultivated the values of "Pioneering - Innovation - High Quality - High Proficiency". Therefore, the spring incense offering ceremony is not only a cultural ritual, but also a continuation – a continuation of scholarship, a continuation of the spirit of service, and a continuation of the aspiration to "build up the people's cultural heritage and nurture the nation's vital resources".

Amidst the fragrant incense wafting through the Thai Hoc courtyard, the vow of "Bright Mind, United Heart, Harmonious Deeds" resounds as a shared commitment – so that each staff member and lecturer enters the new year with faith, responsibility, and determination to build an increasingly strong "House of Humanities," worthy of being the descendants of the former Imperial Academy.
