On the morning of January 21, 2026, a delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, led by Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector, held its first cooperation exchange with Guangxi Nationalities Normal University, China. The delegation was welcomed by Associate Professor Ma Ning, Rector of the University.
The two sides discussed and agreed on the following tasks:
1. Both sides agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Guangxi Nationalities Normal University.
2. To agree on the content and conditions for establishing a Department of Vietnamese Studies at Guangxi Nationalities Normal University.
3. Agreement was reached on accepting students from Guangxi Nationalities Normal University to study and conduct research at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities starting from the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.
4. To unify research content, academic exchanges, and organize joint seminars on cross-border ethnic issues; the relationship between the Zhuang people in Guangxi and the Tay, Nung, and Thai people in Vietnam; ASEAN and international issues... in order to contribute to the preservation and promotion of ethnic language and cultural values.
5. Agree on the details of student exchange programs in Chinese Studies, Vietnamese Language, and Vietnamese Studies for the summer of 2026.
6. To agree on contents regarding tourism cooperation, educational innovation, postgraduate training partnerships, and cultural exchanges between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Guangxi Nationalities Normal University.
7. Agree on the development of a common plan to implement cooperation in socio-economic development research and local governance in border areas between Vietnam and China.
8. Agree to establish a joint research program comparing the political systems and political theories of Vietnam and China.
Guangxi Normal University for Nationalities is a historically significant university, founded in 1939 under the original name of Chongshan Normal School. After years of development and name changes, it was officially upgraded to a university and renamed Guangxi Normal University for Nationalities in 2009. The university excels in teacher training programs, particularly for ethnic minority areas, playing a crucial role in the educational and social development of ethnic border regions.
