Meeting with Facebook Asia-Pacific representative

On September 27, 2019, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of the Faculty of Information and Library, the Office of Cooperation and Development received and worked with the Facebook Asia-Pacific delegation led by Ms. Beth Ann Lim (Director of Community Programs Asia-Pacific).

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh emphasized that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a pioneer in Vietnam in systematic and systematic training in information and information science. The University's Internet and Society Research Program (VPIS) was established to study the two-way relationship between the Internet and social life. From the 2019-2020 school year, the University officially opened a high-quality Bachelor's program in Information Management to meet the demand for training human resources in information management. Therefore, the University is ready to carry out joint activities with Facebook such as organizing seminars, talks, and joint research on topics of mutual interest.

On behalf of Facebook Asia-Pacific, Ms. Beth Ann Lim said that Facebook Asia-Pacific is currently implementing the project “We think digital”. Based on cooperation with experts and scholars across the region, the project aims to build courses and training programs on topics related to digital and cyberspace such as critical thinking, digital citizenship, information perception skills, etc. Facebook Asia-Pacific highly appreciates the prestige and hopes that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will become a partner in the project.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh expressed his support and assigned the Faculty of Information and Library Science to participate in the above project. In the short term, Facebook Asia-Pacific will organize training for the Faculty’s lecturers to initially familiarize them with the contents of “We think digital”. In the long term, the Faculty can consider and select suitable contents to teach as a subject in its Information Management training program.
