Dr. Truong Quang Lam (Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities)
Dr. Truong Quang Lam discussed self-worth from a psychological perspective: “Values are what people consider important, necessary and meaningful” to each individual. He emphasized that recognizing a person’s core values is not easy, because it is a process of acquiring and accumulating knowledge, observing and listening to oneself. In addition, identity crisis is also one of the problems that young people often encounter in their growing up process.
Dr. Truong Quang Lam gives advice to young people who are feeling confused, skeptical, regretful, or disappointed when going through an identity crisis: “Be calm and gradually you will find your value. The problem is what you want, what kind of person you want to become, what values you want to affirm, and what you want to bring to this life.” Dr. Truong Quang Lam concludes with a motto for young people: “Whether our youth is beautiful or brilliant depends on ourselves.”
Dr. Tran Ha Thu (Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities)
Dr. Tran Ha Thu shares about the role of emotions and how to manage emotions: emotions are instinctive but managing emotions is a choice, so we can completely control emotions in our lives. In particular, Dr. Tran Ha Thu illustrates ways to soothe ourselves mentally when experiencing negative emotions, for example by adjusting posture, changing space, participating in favorite activities, and confiding in someone we trust. These actions can take place temporarily but are very useful when we want to solve the problem immediately, right at the moment when we feel anxious, scared, sad or angry. Emotions depend on the objective situation and our subjective assessment, so in the long run, positive thoughts and optimism will help us control our emotions better.

Dr. Tran Ha Thu emphasized that managing emotions is not about denying or suppressing them, but about controlling them to master yourself better. At the end of her presentation, Dr. Tran Ha Thu conveyed a famous quote by American poet Maya Angelou: "People will forget what you said, forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel."
