Sharing and evaluating achievements in research and teaching of Vietnamese studies.

On the afternoon of October 28th, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, organized the scientific forum "Vietnamese Studies: Achievements and Prospects," attracting over 300 domestic and international managers and scientists participating both in person and online.

According to Professor Dr. Le Quan, Director of Hanoi National University, the Forum is a space for scientists, managers, and social activists to gather, share and evaluate achievements, point out existing problems and limitations, and determine the future development direction of Vietnamese studies.

Through this forum, connections will be strengthened, exchanges and cooperation expanded, and a global network of Vietnamese studies will be developed in the context of Vietnam's accelerated industrialization and modernization, proactive integration with the world in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Scholars will contribute to sustainable development through initiatives and proposed solutions to promote economic growth, cultural and social development, and contribute to enhancing the position and role, as well as promoting the image of Vietnam and its people to the world...

At the forum, scientists and researchers presented analyses, assessments, opinions, and solutions for research and training in Vietnamese studies. Professor Vu Minh Giang, Chairman of the Science and Training Council of Hanoi National University, stated that research on Vietnam, approached from the perspective of individual specialized sciences, has been conducted both domestically and internationally for centuries, but research as an interdisciplinary science based on new theories and methods has only truly flourished in the last half-century or so.

Therefore, the issues to be discussed are: The current state of Vietnamese studies in Vietnam and the world over the past five years; the contribution of Vietnamese studies to socio-economic and cultural development; its contribution to proactive integration and development between Vietnam and the world; solutions to further strengthen the network of coordination, sharing, and collaboration among research institutions on Vietnam worldwide; cooperation in training Vietnamese studies according to international standards...

Participating online from Russia, Professor Vladimir Kolotov shared information about the activities of the Ho Chi Minh Institute at St. Petersburg State University. He noted that the Ho Chi Minh Institute is the first and only institution outside of Vietnam established at St. Petersburg State University. For the past 11 years, the Institute has operated around seven main areas: people-to-people diplomacy, scientific research, analysis, evaluation, consulting, culture, education, and economics. Meanwhile, Professor Furuta Motoo, Rector of the Vietnam-Japan University (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), highlighted current challenges and future prospects, particularly the development of Vietnamese studies with a regional studies orientation to clarify Vietnam's position on the international stage and redefine Vietnamese identity.

Also at the forum, scientists shared some experiences in teaching Vietnamese Studies at Charles University, Czech Republic; research on Vietnam linking economic development with environmental protection and sustainable development; and many scientific exchanges and discussions about Vietnam...
