I. THE FOUR SEASONS OF HUMANITY

Humanity brings warmth in all four seasons.

Seventy-five years of tradition overcoming storms and tempests.

Together we have overcome many difficulties.

Throughout the four seasons, we've been together, filled with love.

In the springtime of our nation, we build this school.

Against the backdrop of Indochina, the Faculty of Literature developed.[1]

Let's sow the first seeds together.

Working together with one heart and mind, the University was established.[2]

Having made up their minds, they put aside their books and pens, and teachers and students set off on their journey in droves.

In war, when the homeland needs us, we do not shy away from danger.

Just keep going and keep going…

The spirit is like a blazing summer.

Pen in one hand, gun in the other, and chest overflowing with breath.

Determined to defend our homeland

Decision to register the school's name

Entering the glorious pages of our nation's history.

Synthesis, please keep the dream alive.

With the reunification of our country, we will rebuild our homeland!
 

The school year begins in the fall.

After liberation, we have continuously developed.

Many new and increasingly advanced fields of study have been introduced.

Teachers and students continue to pursue their dreams.

And write more poems for your career.

Gradually becoming a University of Social Sciences and Humanities[3]

Teachers and students alike continue to uphold the spirit of humanism.

In training as well as in traditional movements

Clubs, competitions, and then activities.

Always imbued with warmth, volunteerism, and love.

Discipline and compassion permeate the atmosphere throughout the lecture halls.

A new spring has arrived after the journeys we have taken.

The Faculty of Humanities is transforming itself in a new decade.

Throughout the four seasons, the wheel of fate turns.

Spring, summer, autumn, winter, and then spring again.

Our school is constantly evolving.

[1]On November 15, 1945, the first opening ceremony of the Vietnam National University, presided over by President Ho Chi Minh, was held at the former Indochina University. The university comprised five faculties (Medicine, Science, Literature, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts), including a Literature Department headed by Professor Dang Thai Mai, which consisted of ten departments divided into four specializations: Philosophy, Vietnamese Studies, Sinology, and History-Geography.

[2]On June 5, 1956, the Vietnamese Government issued Decision No. 2183/TC establishing Hanoi University on the basis of its predecessor institutions (University of Science, University of Literature, University of Basic Sciences, and Preparatory University of Inter-Region IV), becoming the first university of basic sciences (natural sciences - social sciences and humanities) in North Vietnam immediately after peace was restored.

[3]On December 10, 1993, Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet signed Decree 97/CP establishing the National University of Hanoi, which included the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, built on the basis of the training/research units in social sciences and humanities of Hanoi University.

In September 1995, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was officially established, becoming an independent unit within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
 

II.CONFESSIONS OF A NEW STUDENT - PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Who are you? – Psychology student

Having just started school, I'm feeling very confused.

Then I rushed straight to the department.

Then I met some very young teachers.

I patiently and kindly answered all of your questions.

To be honest, I know that I

Quite a few stupid and silly things have been said.

For example, when is there a storm?

...will our school, or our department, be flooded?

Yet, the teachers still listened and answered me within the agreed-upon time.

I left with so much to learn.

I've only been studying for a few days, but I already feel more at ease.

When I felt the warmth and consistent support of the teachers in the psychology department...

I've reduced the worries in my mind.

To live life to the fullest in your youth.
