Reunion day of the "green shirt soldiers"

On the evening of October 15, 2014, at the 8th floor hall of Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were more than 300 volunteer students from different faculties and departments. The “green shirt soldiers” were present at the summer volunteer closing ceremony and the 2014 Green Humanities Festival to look back, to be certified, and to be rewarded for the most meaningful things they had done during the last summer volunteering season.

Attending the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu - Standing Member of the Party Committee, Vice Principal of the University; Comrade Truong Ngoc Kiem - Secretary of the Youth Union of Hanoi National University; Comrade Pham Huy Cuong - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Hanoi National University; Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - Secretary of Minh Quang Commune Youth Union (Ba Vi, Hanoi), comrades representing the Youth Union - Student Association of other units.

The numbers speak for themselves.

The 2014 Summer Volunteer Season recorded 275 volunteers divided into 5 active teams: SVTN Team Supporting the Exam Season, Team "Propaganda of Culture and History of Thang Long - Hanoi", SVTN Team in Minh Quang and Khanh Thuong communes (Ba Vi, Hanoi) and Kien Dai commune (Chiem Hoa, Tuyen Quang) and Media Team.

500 meals and 1000 dumplings were provided free of charge to students and parents at exam locations; candidates taking the exam alone were introduced to free accommodation in dormitories and meals were provided - Exam support model.

05 locations: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, National Museum of History, Soc Temple (Soc Son), Hat Mon Temple (Phuc Tho) - Thang Long - Hanoi Cultural and Historical Propaganda Team.

Environmental sanitation in 10/13 villages of the commune and at Khanh Thuong B Primary School; cleaning and repairing nearly 14.5 km of road; Organizing labor and environmental sanitation at the People's Committee of the commune, stadium, Lat village cultural house, Tan Vien pagoda; working with local youth in Minh Hong village 200m of road - SVTN team of Minh Quang commune, Ba Vi

Organizing summer activities, teaching singing and dancing, and group games for children in 13 villages every evening, attracting nearly 500 children to participate. Organizing a painting contest with the theme "Homeland, country, sea and islands of Vietnam" for children at Khanh Thuong B Primary School with 98 entries, presenting 90 gifts to poor students overcoming difficulties in primary and secondary schools of the commune - SVTN Team of Khanh Thuong commune, Ba Vi.

Giving 25 gifts to students in difficult circumstances who have achieved high academic achievements, repairing 3 roads of 3km in 3 villages in the commune, giving 25 gifts to policy families - SVTN Team in Kien Dai commune - Chiem Hoa - Tuyen Quang.

13 members, working with volunteer teams according to a plan set out before the campaign, nearly 50 articles with many genres such as news briefs, reports, articles, and hundreds of photos, news clips - Media Team.

Many pleasant surprises

The summer volunteer closing ceremony and the Green Humanity Volunteer Festival 2014 took place with many interesting surprises compared to previous years. It is worth mentioning the artistic performances and talent shows from the volunteer students themselves, including a variety of genres such as singing, dancing, flash mob, etc., which received enthusiastic support and encouragement from the volunteer students.

Perhaps the most special ever, this year’s summer volunteer summary ceremony also has an interesting challenge for volunteers: Gameshow “Volunteer Millionaire Hot Seat”. With 15 questions surrounding the 2014 summer volunteer campaign, each volunteer model will send a member to participate in the game. Players will take turns answering the questions, if they answer incorrectly, the opportunity will be given to another player. And in the end, with excellence and luck, the Captain of the Khanh Thuong Commune Volunteer Team, Ba Vi – Nguyen Thanh Dat won, bringing home a prize of 2 million VND for his team.

During the ceremony, the Hanoi Youth Union, the Youth Union - Student Association of Hanoi National University, the Youth Union - Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities awarded many certificates of merit and recognition to the volunteer students for their extremely meaningful contributions, demonstrating the bravery of the Humanities youth in the summer of 2014.

At the end of the ceremony, surely each volunteer student had indescribable emotions. A summer passed by without meaning, so the volunteer summer 2014 has ended, we - each green shirt soldier has had many meaningful memories, many new friends, brothers, new skills, ... and most of all, we have had our own maturity. Hopefully, at the 2015 Summer Volunteer Summary Ceremony, the Youth of Humanities will record more telling numbers and achieve more achievements, creating a successful volunteer summer like this year's summer.
