Honoring and honoring the contributions of generations of teachers

Attending the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc (Vice President of VNU), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Prof. People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh (Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) along with teachers, staff, students and trainees of all generations of the University.

In his welcoming speech, the Principal expressed his deep gratitude to generations of teachers and veteran teachers who made great contributions in the early days of building and developing the school; teachers and staff of the school who were dedicated and enthusiastic in research and teaching, work and study, dedicating themselves to the cause of building the school as well as the process of developing, integrating and modernizing the country's education.

Thanks to the contributions of teachers, in recent years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had impressive achievements in many aspects of activities, affirming its position as a leading university in Vietnam, actively taking steps to deeply integrate with regional and world education. In 2013, the University completed the Project on planning training sectors and majors until 2020 and implemented a plan to open a number of new majors such as Office Management, Hotel Management, Library Science, Southeast Asian Studies, etc. Postgraduate training has made strong progress in both scale and quality of training. The proportion of postgraduate training of the University accounts for about 37% of the total scale of regular training. Some of the University's postgraduate training majors such as Vietnamese Linguistics, Vietnamese Literature, Vietnamese History, International Studies, etc. have attracted many foreign academies to study.

With the orientation of building a research university, from 2009 to present, the school's staff has been assigned to preside over 22 state-level projects, 20 projects under the Nafosted fund, and 180 projects at other levels. In 2013 - 2014, the school's staff published nearly 600 research works, including 43 international publications. Five more teachers were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Science and Technology, bringing the total number of teachers of the school receiving the above noble Science and Technology awards to 24.

During the period 2009-2014, the School established relationships and signed new agreements with 90 universities and international organizations. The School has 181 lecturers with doctoral degrees, accounting for 50.7% and 89 lecturers who are professors and associate professors, accounting for nearly 25% of the total number of lecturers in the School.

On behalf of the leaders of VNU, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc shared the joy with the teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on this special holiday. The Vice President of VNU especially emphasized two recent outstanding achievements with great contributions from scientists and staff of the University: the successful pilot implementation of competency-based admissions which was highly appreciated by the public; the successful acceptance of the first online software to assess Vietnamese proficiency for foreigners in Vietnam. In the current period of innovation and integration, theScientists and teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have always affirmed their important and pivotal position in the VNU system and in the team of scientific and educational staff of the country. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc cI hope that the teachers of the School will always maintain their passion for science and teaching, and make even greater contributions to the education cause of the whole country.
