(GDVN) Huy's journey is not only marked by his courage and self-confidence, but also by his personal growth and his desire to spread positive values.
The USSH Gralent Beauty Contest is a meaningful platform organized by the Youth Union and Student Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), aiming to find and honor outstanding students who harmoniously combine physical beauty, intelligence, character, and confidence.
More than just a competition, USSH Gralent opens up opportunities for students to discover themselves, cultivate self-confidence, affirm their individuality, and spread positive values to the community. In this year's competition, Nguyen Quang Huy, a K70 student from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, excellently won the title of Mr. USSH Gralent, making his mark with his outstanding character, intelligence, and demeanor.
It's not just about the title, it's about overcoming your own limitations.
Speaking with a reporter from the Vietnam Education Online Magazine, Nguyen Quang Huy said that the title of Mr. Talent, Beauty, and Humanity is not only a proud milestone but also a journey full of emotions for him. It's not just the happiness of having his efforts recognized, but also a clearer awareness of his responsibilities.
For Quang Huy, this title is not just a moment of glory, but also demands continuous self-improvement, maintaining his image, and spreading positive values to the student community.
Few people know that Huy's decision to participate in the competition didn't stem from careful preparation or a pre-planned strategy. Initially, the student still had many concerns, even apprehension, about stepping onto a large stage – a place that demands confidence, poise, and the ability to express himself in front of a large audience.
"I used to think this wasn't the right environment for me, because I was still quite shy and lacked confidence," Huy shared.
However, the encouragement and support from senior students in the Department of Sociology and Social Work became a crucial source of motivation, helping Huy gradually change his mindset, boldly step out of his comfort zone, and try his hand at a completely new journey.

Looking back, Huy believes that the most valuable thing the competition brought him was not just the title, but the significant personal growth. From someone who was initially hesitant, Huy gradually became more confident in communication, learned how to express his personal opinions, and handled various situations flexibly. Furthermore, participating in the competition gave Huy the opportunity to reflect on himself, thereby clearly defining his goals and future direction.
For Huy, the journey at the Humanities Talent and Beauty Contest was not just a competition, but also a turning point that helped him improve his thinking, skills, and character. It also motivated him to continue striving, learning, and spreading positive values, in line with the spirit the contest aimed for.
Sharing his reasons for choosing Social Work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Nguyen Quang Huy said that it wasn't a random decision, but a career path he had formed quite early on. From the beginning, Huy wanted to pursue a field that could create practical value for the community, especially supporting those in difficult circumstances and vulnerable groups – those who need to be listened to, understood, and accompanied more in life.
During his studies, the Social Work major had a profound impact on how Huy viewed people and social issues. From approaching problems from a simplistic perspective, the student gradually learned to analyze from multiple angles, seeing events in a broader context, with various layers and causes.
More importantly, Huy developed the ability to listen sincerely, understand deeply, and approach the difficulties of others with empathy and respect. These experiences not only helped Huy mature academically but also changed his way of thinking and acting, leading him towards a more responsible and meaningful life.
Evaluating the learning environment, Huy said he was particularly impressed with the quality of education at the school, especially the close connection between theory and practice. Beyond classroom lectures, students have many opportunities to participate in practical activities, directly interact with the community, and apply their knowledge to specific situations. This helped Huy better understand the characteristics of his field of study and clearly define his role and career path in the future.
In addition, extracurricular activities and movements organized by the faculty and the university also play an important role in the holistic development of students. Through these activities, Huy honed many essential skills such as teamwork, communication, organization, and problem-solving. In particular, his ability to adapt to new environments improved significantly, making him more confident in facing challenges.
"It's safe to say that the experiences in the classroom and extracurricular activities have become important assets, not only for my studies but also for helping me become more confident when entering life and work later," Huy shared.
From meaningful activities to positive life messages from young people.
Despite being only a first-year student, Nguyen Quang Huy has already made a strong impression with his outstanding achievements in academics, extracurricular activities, and community work. He was awarded a certificate of commendation by the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Yen Lap commune (Phu Tho province) for his positive contributions to the "Warm Winter, Loving Spring" volunteer campaign in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Not only that, Huy also actively participated in many meaningful activities organized by the faculty and the university. These include the volunteer campaign "Sowing Sunshine on Yen Hill" hosted by the Student Union and Student Association of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, and his role in the Organizing Committee of the Gala program "Taking Flight K70 – SKYLINE".
At the same time, Huy is also a member of the Sol Art Club, contributing to spreading cultural and artistic values in the school environment.
In the fields of sports and arts, Huy continued to demonstrate his dynamism and versatility by participating in the USSH Champion League football tournament, winning a Gold Medal at the "Youth of Society" sports festival, and achieving First Prize at the Arts Festival celebrating the 80th anniversary and 30th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
These are not only commendable achievements but also demonstrate the dedication and well-rounded development of the male student.
From his practical experiences participating in numerous community activities, Nguyen Quang Huy gradually developed clearer and deeper thoughts about the role of volunteerism for young people. Sharing his thoughts on this, Huy stated that volunteer activities are not simply community support programs, but also an important environment contributing to the cultivation of character and a sense of social responsibility. It's not just an opportunity to help others, but also a journey for self-reflection, a deeper understanding of the value of giving, and the meaning of living responsibly towards society.
According to Huy, through practical experiences in volunteer programs, young people have the opportunity to encounter many different situations, thereby learning to listen, understand, and empathize more. These experiences help each person gradually develop genuine concern, a willingness to share, and a readiness to act for the good, instead of just thinking or talking about it. This is also a process that helps young people mature naturally and sustainably, both in awareness and action.
As the winner of the "Beauty, Talent, and Humanities" title, Huy hopes to spread a positive message to the student community, especially encouraging young people to boldly step out of their comfort zone. "Everyone can become a better version of themselves if they dare to challenge themselves, dare to experience new things, and constantly improve. Besides that, knowing how to love, care for, and be willing to act for the community is also very important," Huy shared.
The male student also emphasized that positive changes in society don't necessarily have to start with grand or far-fetched things. According to Huy, just small, simple actions, performed with sincerity and sustained consistently, can allow each young person to create positive values for the community. When many small actions spread and resonate with each other, it will be the foundation for creating positive and lasting changes for society.
Sharing his future plans, Nguyen Quang Huy said he will continue to pursue community service activities, especially programs related to his Social Work major. The student hopes to participate more deeply in projects supporting disadvantaged groups, thereby not only making practical contributions to society but also accumulating practical experience and gradually improving his professional skills.
Alongside this, Huy aims for holistic development, focusing on balancing academic studies with the cultivation of essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, organization, and adaptability. According to Huy, this is a crucial foundation for meeting future job requirements effectively and for building greater confidence when entering the professional environment.
Besides his studies and social activities, Huy also hopes to continue nurturing his passion for art, especially singing. For him, music is not just a personal hobby but also a way to connect, share emotions, and spread positive energy to those around him.
"I believe that when each person continuously strives to improve themselves and lives responsibly, positive values will spread naturally and sustainably throughout society," Huy shared.
