Nguyen Ngoc Tu Quyen, born in 2007, is a student of the K70 cohort at the School of Journalism and Communication (SJC), University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Studying journalism, this young woman from Ha Long dreams of becoming a television presenter and editor.
Besides the Miss title, Tú Quyên also won two additional awards: Miss Talent and Miss Best Costume Presentation.
From a shy freshman to a proud "crystal flame"Speaking to a reporter from the Vietnam Student Section of Tien Phong Newspaper, Tu Quyen admitted that she entered the competition with considerable shyness as a first-year student. However, the encouragement from her family, friends, and especially the teachers and senior students at SJC gave her the strength to excel.

Quyen's journey at USSH Gralent was filled with love and sincere encouragement, even from audience members she had never met. Throughout the competition, the SJC Institute and the entire K70 Journalism B class were her strong support system, assisting her in every segment, campaigning for votes, and providing updates. They not only stood by her side, sharing her sweat behind the scenes, but also cheered and shouted loudly whenever they saw the student shine on stage.
The female contestants gradually matured through the preliminary rounds of the competition.

Speaking of her journey at USSH Talent, the part of the competition that Tú Quyên is most proud of and has poured the most effort into is the Talent competition. Inspired by this year's competition spirit, "Shine bright like a crystal flame," she conceived and developed the story for her performance titled "Rise & Shine." Her entry conveyed a message about breaking free from negative constraints to become a proud "crystal flame."

The new beauty queen recalled: “I was quite daring to combine dancesport, a discipline I had never studied before, with contemporary dance. Maintaining balance in my dance shoes in the beginning was a real challenge. But after two weeks of intense training, although not perfect, the explosive performance and the positive impact it had on the audience was priceless happiness for me.”
Tears of joy and a proud "hat-trick" for the Institute of Journalism.
The Grand Finale on March 29th marked an unforgettable milestone when the prestigious crown was awarded to Nguyen Ngoc Tu Quyen. In that moment, she couldn't hide her tears of happiness.
Tu Quyen shone brightly at the USSH Gralent Finals through each segment: Group Performance, Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese dress), Evening Gown, and Q&A.
Recalling the moment of her coronation, Quyen is still deeply moved: “When I looked down at the stage and saw everyone waving flags, blowing horns, and calling my name, my heart felt like it was going to burst. Without waiting for the MC's signal, everyone rushed up and hugged me. At that moment, I burst into tears of happiness.”
Seeing me cry, everyone teased me: 'You were so stubborn before and refused to take the exam, almost costing the Journalism Institute a beauty queen,' or 'Tu Quyen has successfully kept the Journalism Institute's streak of beauty queens going.' Just those few words were enough to make me feel everyone's love and pride. I am truly grateful to everyone."

The competition has ended, but for Tú Quyên, the greatest "asset" she gained was not just the title, but also the memories under the roof of USSH Gralent. Her most unforgettable memory was simply the humble question, "What are we having for dinner tonight?" whenever the group of contestants finished their exhausting practice sessions.
Humanistic spirit in the age of AINot only did she impress with her talent and radiant beauty, but Tú Quyên also captivated the judges with her insightful thinking demonstrated in the Q&A segment. At the final night, when asked by Associate Professor Dr. Đặng Hồng Sơn – Vice Rector of the university – about what helps USSH students confidently step out into the world, Tú Quyên gave a compelling response by comparing the core values of humanity with artificial intelligence (AI).
Tú Quyên confidently answered the behavioral question.
"I believe that what helps humanities students confidently step out into the world today is the core cultural foundation, ethics, and humanistic values that we are educated in. These are things that are easily lost in the context of AI gradually replacing humans in many fields. A student who firmly grasps that foundation, combined with compassion, can confidently spread the most positive and beautiful values," Quyen affirmed.
That answer perfectly aligns with the life philosophy her family has always instilled in Quyen: "Become a good person before achieving fame." The new beauty queen expressed that she always prioritizes cultivating morality, character, and responsibility before pursuing fame or financial success.
