Journalism students stir up the 2022 National Press Festival

At the 2022 National Press Festival taking place from April 13-15, 2022, the exhibition booth of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training stood out with hundreds of students gathering to take photos, work, and sing youth songs.

On the morning of April 13, at the Hanoi Museum, the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Hanoi People's Committee chaired and coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the opening ceremony of the 2022 National Press Festival with the theme "Vietnamese press: united, professional, modern and humane".

Teachers and students of the Institute of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi also participated enthusiastically and passionately at the Press Festival with a modern, youthful and eye-catching exhibition area.

Early in the morning, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Principal of the School and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal were present to attend the opening ceremony of the Press Conference and promptly encouraged teachers and students of the Institute of Journalism and Communication.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the School, said: “The National Press Festival is not only a festival for journalists nationwide, but also a great opportunity for journalism and communication students to meet, interact, and exchange with senior journalists to hone their skills. Many students have also found agencies to collaborate with after attending the annual press festival.”

At the Institute's exhibition booth, in addition to introducing training programs, a "book tree" is also displayed, demonstrating the tradition of "General Journalism, Humanistic Communication" with the foundation of classic works by the country's leading professors in social sciences and humanities such as Tran Van Giau, Dao Duy Anh, Ha Minh Duc, Tran Quoc Vuong, Phan Huy Le, Dinh Xuan Lam, Ha Van Tan... In modern times, the "branches and leaves" of the book tree are the research works and works of the current teachers of the Institute of Journalism and Communication.

During the Press Conference, students from the Institute of Journalism and Communication brought a joyful and youthful atmosphere to the exhibition booths with popular songs. Many other units also participated in entertaining performances at the "stage" of the Institute of Journalism and Communication's exhibition booth.

Held on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Journalists Association, towards the 97th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and major holidays, important historical and political events of the country and the capital in 2022, this year's Press Festival chose the theme "Vietnamese Press: Solidarity, professionalism, modernity and humanity". The Press Festival has 4 areas displaying spring newspapers and typical press publications in early 2022, including the New Year newspaper, the Spring issue of Nham Dan 2022, the year-end and new year issues...

In addition, the area in front of the Hanoi Museum also has an exhibition on 100 years of Le Paria (The Miserable) newspaper organized by the Vietnam Press Museum. Within the framework of the press conference, on the morning of April 14, the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with Tuoi Tre newspaper to organize a Digital Transformation forum to better serve readers. The forum gathered many contributions from prestigious journalists and experts in communication and digital transformation.

According to the representative of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the press conference is an opportunity to honor the strong development and great achievements of the Vietnamese press, promote press products associated with the work and creativity of journalists nationwide; at the same time, enhance exchanges and meetings between journalists and the public, thereby encouraging the press to best perform its functions and tasks, meet the increasing information needs of the people; enhance the role and prestige of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the press life in particular and social life in general.
