Since 2006, more than 1,700 large companies and multinational corporations (such as Samsung Group, LG, POSCO, DOOSAN, Bank of AMERICA, etc.) have used the international OPIc foreign language certificate as a criterion for recruiting, rewarding, and promoting more than 1.2 million of their employees.
In 2017, in Vietnam, some companies belonging to the Samsung Group conducted Korean communication skills training according to the OPIc test for their officers and employees. After the course, these students were able to take the international OPIc Korean certificate.
What is the OPIc exam like?
OPIc International is a computer-based oral proficiency test administered by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
The OPIc speaking test assesses six languages (English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Spanish). The OPIc test not only assesses vocabulary and grammar, but also assesses the candidate's ability to express himself in specific communication situations. Therefore, the test is capable of accurately assessing the candidate's speaking ability.
The OPIc exam takes about 60 minutes, consists of 15 questions, and is assessed at 4 levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced and advanced).
The test consists of two parts: the test orientation part and the test part.
The exam orientation section lasts about 20 minutes and consists of four parts: a survey, a self-assessment, an overview of the exam, and sample exam questions.
The test lasts about 40 minutes and consists of three parts: an introduction, a difficulty adjustment, and questions specific to each test taker.
In Vietnam, where is the international OPIc certification exam held?
Up to now, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) is the first OPIc exam organizer in Vietnam (under the authorization of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
Recently, the School has organized 02 OPIc Korean exams for Korean language teachers in Hanoi, interpreters, officers and employees of Samsung Company in Vietnam. The School has also coordinated with Multicampus Company of Samsung Group to organize OPIc Korean Teaching Skills Training Course which was highly appreciated by teachers.
The next OPIc English and Korean language certification exams are scheduled to be held on September 30, 2017.
