Climate change is a threat not only to food security but also to security in general at the global level, and often takes a toll on regions that are particularly important for global food production. More than ever, ensuring long-term food security for people is one of the most important tasks for security policy.
With the desire to motivate the young generation of Vietnam to develop effective solutions to ensure food security and cope with climate change, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU-HCM and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in Vietnam organized a competition for university students called "Innovative Security Initiative - Ensuring Food Security and Coping with Climate Change" (IFNSP). Students are encouraged to create projects to solve one of the following three main issues:
1. How to help people in the region be aware of future threats beyond purely economic impacts?
2. How can regional actors, including farmers, their associations and companies in Vietnam and abroad, be empowered to better adapt to the coming changes? How can these actors develop solutions that can ensure all three goals of a contemporary security policy, social, ecological and economic, for the region?
3. How can state institutions at different levels participate in shaping and regulating the major changes that are about to take place as part of innovative security policy?
