The competition "Innovative Security Initiatives - Ensuring Food Security and Addressing Climate Change"

Climate change poses a threat not only to food security but also to overall security at the global level, and frequently damages regions that are particularly crucial to global food production. More than ever, ensuring long-term food security for people is one of the most important tasks for security policy.

With the aim of motivating the younger generation of Vietnam to develop effective solutions in ensuring food security and addressing climate change, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Ho Chi Minh City, and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) in Vietnam are organizing a competition for university students called "Innovative Food Security Initiatives - Ensuring Food Security and Addressing Climate Change" (IFNSP). Students are encouraged to develop projects to address one of the following three main issues:

1. How can we help people in the area become aware of future threats beyond purely economic impacts?

2. How can regional stakeholders, including farmers, their associations and companies in Vietnam and abroad, be empowered to better adapt to upcoming changes? How can these stakeholders develop solutions that can ensure all three objectives of a contemporary security policy—social, ecological, and economic—for the region?

3. How can state institutions at different levels participate in shaping and regulating the major changes that are about to occur as part of a new security policy?

- The Organizing Committee will accept registrations from July 22nd to August 10th, 2020.
