Tuesday - March 22, 2016 04:13
The Faculty of Psychology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Institute of Mental Health, Bach Mai Hospital co-organized the first international scientific conference with the theme "Psychological trauma and support activities".

1. Background and purpose of the Workshop

1.1. Background

For decades, scientists around the world have been trying to understand the nature, consequences of psychological trauma and methods of support. Research on psychological trauma has always been placed in the relationship between biological, psychological and environmental factors.

In today's society, people's life is more urgent, relationships between people, even between family members, become more distant, people from young to old are under more pressure. Besides, differences in values and conflicts of interests between individuals, groups, religions, communities, and ethnic groups are becoming more and more intense in the context of globalization. These things contribute to increasing human trauma both physically and mentally.

In Vietnam today, although the issue of psychological trauma has received more attention from society, psychological support activities have only been implemented in a small and unprofessional manner. Psychological support workers have not been properly trained. The scientific basis and specific regulations on the content, methods, and procedures of support are still lacking and not really suitable for reality. In particular, monitoring activities are almost absent.

Therefore, organizing the Scientific Workshop "Psychological trauma and support activities" to connect scientists, share knowledge and experience in training and practicing psychological intervention, therapy and supervision is necessary and urgent.
