1. Background and Purpose of the Workshop
1.1. Background
For decades, scientists worldwide have been trying to understand the nature and consequences of psychological trauma and methods of support. Research on psychological trauma has always been placed within the context of the relationship between biological, psychological, and environmental factors.
In today's society, life is more hectic, relationships between people, even within families, are becoming more distant, and people of all ages face more pressure. Furthermore, differences in values and conflicts of interest between individuals, groups, religions, communities, and ethnicities are becoming increasingly intense in the context of globalization. These factors contribute to increased physical and mental trauma.
In Vietnam today, although the issue of psychological trauma has received more attention from society, psychological support activities are still only implemented on a small scale and are not professional. Those working in psychological support lack formal training. The scientific basis and specific regulations regarding the content, methods, and procedures of support are lacking and not truly suitable for the reality. In particular, supervision is almost completely absent.
Therefore, organizing the scientific conference "Psychological Trauma and Support Activities" to connect scientists, share knowledge and experience in training and practicing psychological intervention, therapy, and supervision is necessary and of urgent importance.
