On the morning of April 1, 2010, the school-wide briefing session, chaired by Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, heard reports on the work progress in March and discussed key work plans for April 2010.Below are the Principal's conclusions regarding the work for April 2010. The school's units will continue to implement the tasks of the 2009-2010 school year in a coordinated manner, completing the key work plan for April 2010 on schedule. Particular attention should be paid to the following tasks:

1. Party work, organization, propaganda, and mass organizations.

- Organizing Party branch congresses and preparing for the 26th Party Congress of the University; - Consolidating the Faculty Boards and the Scientific and Training Councils of the International Studies, Philosophy, and Anthropology faculties; - Introducing and appointing heads of the Tourism Studies and Literature faculties for the 2010-2015 term; - Organizing a delegation of staff to study university management in South Korea; - Developing a program for reforming management and improving the quality of university education as directed by the government.

2. Training, student affairs, quality assurance and inspection.

- Schedule the second semester exams for the 2009-2010 academic year; - Continue working on university training with relevant units; - Evaluate the three-year implementation of credit-based university training and set goals and solutions for the 2010-2012 period; - Continue the 2010 university admissions process; - Organize the grading and announcement of the results of the first round of postgraduate entrance exams in 2010; - Review graduation applications and award master's degrees to students of the 2006 cohort for the second round.

3. Scientific research and international cooperation

- Preparing to organize the university-level student scientific conference; - Organizing the workshop "Creating socio-economic activities to serve sustainable local development"; - Signing contracts for scientific research projects in 2010; - Agreement on cooperation in Public Relations and International Relations programs with the University of South Australia;

4. Administrative, management and financial work

- Preparing for the Conference of Key Officials for the 2009-2010 academic year; - Developing a plan for the allocation and use of the first phase of the 2010 state budget; - Reporting on the budget settlement and personal income tax for 2009; - Collecting tuition fees for the second semester of the 2009-2010 academic year; - Preparing to increase the salaries of all school staff according to the new salary scale.

5. The units immediately carried out several tasks.

- Party branches completed the organization of their branch congresses in April 2010. - Heads of faculties/departments: + Proactively proposed lists of staff recruitment, reporting to the Board of Directors through the Personnel Department; + Pay attention to and organize student scientific conferences; + Strengthen management and monitoring of training activities (training schedules, deadlines for reporting midterm and final exam results, tuition fees, etc.); + Coordinate with functional departments to effectively carry out propaganda and admissions counseling; - Training Department and Postgraduate Training Department: + Develop plans and guide units in compiling electronic documents; + Promote the development of several training majors/specializations that meet international standards and dual majors; + Contact functional departments of VNU to open major codes for some majors/specializations in the Faculty of Oriental Studies; - The Political and Student Affairs Department should promptly complete the data on employment of graduated students for the three-part public report; - The Administrative and Management Department should do a good job organizing the Conference of Key Faculty Members at the end of May 2010. Heads of departments and divisions should prepare detailed reports on the implementation of work in the 2009-2010 academic year, the plan for the 2010-2011 academic year, and submit them to the Administrative and Management Department before April 15, 2010. - The Planning and Finance Department should balance revenue sources and develop a plan to increase salaries for all faculty members according to the new salary levels effective from May 1, 2010. - Functional departments and units within the university must strictly adhere to the regulations of the management decentralization in receiving, processing, and reporting official documents from the units to the Board of Directors. - The Center for Journalism and Communication needs to further innovate the content of the university's website. The Departments of External Relations and International Training Cooperation, Politics and Student Affairs, Scientific Research Management, and other units within the university should proactively coordinate in providing information for website development. Units wishing to create their own websites must submit a written report to the Board of Directors.
