Summary: The report analyzes the following issues: (1) The need to connect written historical documents with archaeological documents in the study of the transition period from prehistory to history. In Southeast Asia, historical researchers often build models and archaeologists excavate to find material documents to examine and prove that model. However, research reality shows that many new archaeological documents have not been updated by historians and archaeologists in most cases have only stopped at the level of collecting and publishing documents; (2) New Archaeology and some approaches; and (3) Application of some theories and methods of New Archaeology in the study of social structure in prehistory and the transition from prehistory to history in Central Vietnam.
