Dear: - Scientists and research experts
- Leaders of press agencies
Dear colleagues
After 6 years of implementation, the 2016 Press Law and documents guiding the implementation of the Law have created a legal corridor for press activities to develop remarkably, and the people's freedom of the press and freedom of speech in the press are guaranteed and promoted within the framework of the Constitution and laws. Along with many positive assessments from ministries, branches, localities and press agencies, in the process of implementing the Law, there are also difficulties and obstacles that need to be promptly resolved and adjusted. These are limitations that need to be comprehensively amended to meet the requirements of press development in the coming period.
In order to amend and perfect the Press Law 2016 to keep up with the development of modern journalism, it is necessary to have the active participation in both theory and practice of a large number of research experts, policy makers, managers and journalists nationwide. In accordance with the spirit of the resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party: "building a professional, humane and modern press and media".
In order to analyze and clarify the above issue, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will coordinate with Hanoi Law University and the Ministry of Information and Communications to organize a national scientific conference: "Scientific basis and practice of amending the 2016 Press Law", so that scientists, journalists, and journalism training centers can exchange views and find answers to the above issues.
This scientific conference is also held within the framework of the annual event of the Vietnamese press community called “JUNE PRESS FORUM”, chaired by the Institute of Journalism and Communication (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and the Information and Communication Magazine (Ministry of Information and Communications), with the aim of enhancing dialogue, promoting ideas and initiatives, enhancing research and action cooperation for the sustainable development of the Vietnamese press, for the aspiration of developing a prosperous nation.
