Invitation to submit papers for the 7th International Conference on Vietnamese Studies, Subcommittee 5

The conference, themed “Culture, ethnicity, and religion in Vietnam in the context of new development,” is scheduled to be held on August 13, 2025, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
1. Purpose of the Workshop:
- To clarify theoretical and practical issues concerning culture, ethnicity, and religion in the context of development, modernization, and international integration in Vietnam today.
- Assess the current situation, trends of change, and impacts of development policies on cultural, ethnic, and religious fields; identify the opportunities and challenges that arise.
- Sharing practical experiences, scientific research results, and proposing policy solutions to promote the role of culture, strengthen national unity, ensure freedom of belief and religion, and contribute to building a sustainable and harmonious Vietnamese society.
- To create an academic forum connecting scientists, managers, and social activists in the fields of culture, ethnicity, and religion to exchange academic ideas and contribute advisory opinions to policy planning and sustainable national development.
The conference organizers hope that this academic event will be an opportunity to honor the historical, cultural, and social values ​​and achievements of the Vietnamese nation over the past 80 years. It aims to create a forum for academic exchange, connecting domestic and international researchers to promote interdisciplinary scientific research cooperation, and contribute to promoting the image of a dynamic, innovative Vietnam ready for international integration.
2. Time, location, and format of the event
- Time of organization: expected to be held within the periodday 13/8/2025at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
- Format: In-person and online.
3. Content of the Workshop
The workshop focused on the following main topics:
- Cultural characteristics, cultural exchange, and cultural transformation in the context of national development and international integration; issues related to cultural activities, cultural behavior, family relationships, marriage, etc., in contemporary cultural life.
- Cultural resources and assets in the sustainable development of the country; Culture linked to tourism development and regional and local economies.
- The cultural and creative industries in the context of new development trends.
- Ethnic groups, ethnic relations, policies and practices of implementing ethnic policies in the context of national development and international integration.
- The impact of social change on the stability and development of ethnic minority regions.
- Characteristics, values, and resources of ethnic groups in the national development strategy, integration, and sustainable cultural development of ethnic minorities in Vietnam.
- Religion and the changes in contemporary life; the trend of the incarnation of religion in the context of contemporary society.
- The relationship between the state and religion, and promoting the role of religion in the cause of national defense and development.
4. Article writing guidelines
a. Deadline for submitting abstracts and full papers
- Deadline for registering names and submitting abstracts:until June 15, 2025;
- Deadline for submitting the full text of the article:until July 15, 2025.
b. Participants in the article writing
- Scientists, researchers, lecturers, and postgraduate students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
- Experts, scientists, administrators, educators, and anyone interested in the topic of the Workshop.
c) Article submission guidelines
- The full text file is named: author_article title.docx;
- Languages ​​used in the article: Vietnamese; English
- The article should be typed on one side of A4 paper (210 x 297 mm), using Times New Roman font (Unicode), size 13, left margin 3 cm, right margin 2 cm, top margin 2.5 cm, bottom margin 2.5 cm (including images), and 1.5 line spacing;
- Articles submitted to the Organizing Committee should include: Title; Name of author(s); Abstract (approximately 150-200 words); Keywords (3-5 words); Article content (no more than 8000 words); References; Author information (full name, affiliation, phone number, email address, contact address);
The documents are arranged alphabetically.NAMEAuthors in order: Author's full name (capitalize the first letter, lowercase) (publication year, completion year in lowercase, in parentheses), title of the work (book title in italics, the title of the article/journal is printed in lowercase and enclosed in quotation marks,newspaper/magazine title in italics), name of the publisher (abbreviated as Nxb.), place of publication, number of pages. Example:
Bui Dinh Phong (2025), “The Rise of the Vietnamese Nation - Some Theoretical and Practical Issues”,Journal of Party History, number 3, pages 48-53.
Tran Dan Tien (1948),Stories about the life and activities of President Ho Chi Minh, Truth Publishing House, Hanoi.
Communist Party of Vietnam (2001),Documents of the 9th National Congress of Delegates, National Political Publishing House, Hanoi.
- Papers submitted to the Conference must not have been previously published in books, journals, or other conference proceedings. Papers will be checked for data duplication according to the regulations of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and evaluated through an independent peer review process by reputable experts and scientists.
- Qualified papers will be selected for presentation at the Conference and printed in the proceedings.
The conference paper has an ISBN and is expected to be published in June 2026 by Hanoi National University Publishing House.
