- Participants: lecturers, researchers and students interested in Japan studies in the social sciences and humanities.The Sumitomo Foundation, established in 1991, has implemented the Japan Research Grant Program to promote mutual understanding between Asian countries and Japan. The program supports research projects in the social sciences and humanities related to Japan.
The program aims to promote mutual understanding between Asian countries and Japan through supporting research projects related to Japan. Information about this program is as follows:
- Eligibility: Researchers who are Southeast Asian or East Asian (non-Japanese), residing outside Japan and conducting independent research.
- Application deadline:From September 1 to October 31, 2025.
- Sponsorship period:One year(April 2026 to March 2027), extendable for up to two years if necessary.
- Total funding budget:about 50 million Japanese Yen, with about 80 projects selected.
