The 5th Student Union Congress was a great success.

The 5th Congress of the Student Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was successfully held on May 15, 2010 with the participation of 212 delegates, representing more than 5,500 students of the whole school.The conference listened to the report on the results of the internal session, summarized the summary report of the Association's work in the 4th term and the direction and tasks of the Student Association in the 5th term. The congress assessed: The Association's work and student movement in the 2007-2009 term of the Student Association of the University have achieved specific results, thereby contributing to affirming the position, role and contributions of the Association in the political system of the University as well as in the common activities of the Student Association of VNU, Hanoi City Student Association. The typical achievements that the Student Association has done well in the past term are:

• There are many innovative forms of political and ideological education for student union members.
• There are specific steps to participate in the process of improving the training quality of the School through activities to support and encourage student associations in studying and scientific research.
• Promote direct activities as well as integrate theatrical activities, cultural and artistic programs, activities of groups, teams, groups, and professional clubs to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of students.
• Continue to implement many social, volunteer and community activities that attract the response of a large number of students.
• The student club models at school and faculty levels are maintained stably and have many new features in their activities, especially with extensive connections with units inside and outside VNU.

In the working direction for the 2010-2012 term, the Student Association of the University aims to continue to maintain and promote its achievements and pioneering position in the movement of the Student Association of VNU, Hanoi City; continue to build and consolidate the organization, innovate methods and improve the quality of activities. The motto of action: Morality - Practicing literature - Being proactive - Integration.

With the achievements in the past term, the Student Association of the University and comrade Pham Huy Cuong - President of the Student Association of the University - received certificates of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association; 03 groups and 05 individuals received certificates of merit from the Hanoi Student Association; 05 groups and 05 individuals received certificates of merit from the VNU Student Association. Speaking at the congress, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu - Vice Principal of the University - emphasized the role of the Student Association and the Youth Union in helping students adapt better to the credit training method. To do this, the Association needs to organize many experience exchange activities between teachers and students, between senior and junior students... to help students have the right perception of new learning and teaching methods and exchange and share highly effective learning solutions. The Congress also elected 21 members of the Executive Committee of the Student Association for the 5th term (2010-2012).
