School Union Workshop on “Exploiting learning materials and applying technology in teaching and research”

Attending the event were Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An, Chairman of the Trade Union Inspection Committee - Standing Member of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Van Huong - Chairman of the Trade Union of VNU.

The speakers of the workshop were Dr. Ton Quang Cuong – Head of the Faculty of Educational Technology (University of Education) and Dr. Nguyen Hoang Son – Director of the Information Center – Library of VNU. Dr. Ton Quang Cuong presented new trends in the application of technology in the world and practical implementation in the field of education in Vietnam. Besides affirming the importance of applying technology in teaching and research at universities, the report also pointed out a number of challenges, such as limited social interaction, dispersion, cheating in learning, reliance on technology, etc. leading to the syndrome of “fear of technology”.

Dr. Nguyen Hoang Son introduced the current database at the VNU Information and Library Center, which effectively serves the exploitation of scientific documents in teaching and research. As a unit directly supporting textbooks and learning materials for staff and students, the Information and Library Center has actively applied new document reception trends, typically online document sources exploited on the web platform and applications (apps) for smartphones and tablets.

Right at the seminar, staff of the Information Center - Library directly guided the participating staff on how to access the rich online resources available at the center.

The workshop is a practical activity to celebrate Workers' Month, within the framework of the action plan of the Hanoi National University Trade Union and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Trade Union.
