Over 800 candidates participated in the entrance exam for the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities on July 12-13, 2020.

This year, the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities is holding its first entrance exam for specialized classes in Literature, History, and Geography. Before the exam, thorough preparations were made, and procedures were followed strictly according to regulations to ensure its success. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu (Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities) shared this information."The school is striving to create the best and most favorable conditions for students taking the exam and for parents dropping off and picking up their children. Students will take the exam in building G, all exam rooms are equipped with air conditioning. The school has prepared resting areas for parents in building BC while they wait for their children to finish the exam..."To support the school's recruitment efforts, in addition to the faculty from various departments within the school, there is also enthusiastic support from students belonging to the school's Volunteer Club.

In its first entrance exam, the school received a great deal of interest from parents and students in Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide. This year, the school is accepting 100 students out of more than 800 applicants. Overall, the quality of applicants is very high; the list includes many students who have won high awards in provincial and city-level academic competitions, and many who have obtained IELTS certificates and possess good English proficiency.

I'm fortunate to have a father who is a former student of the History Department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, so from a young age, he has instilled in me a great deal of inspiration, passion, and love for the university and social sciences."You also shared that, because you so desperately wanted to become a student of the school, you registered to take the entrance exam for both majors: Literature and History.

Commenting on the exam, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu said: The exam met the selection requirements for specialized schools. The Literature, Mathematics, History, and Geography exams were very basic and clearly differentiated, while the English exam was quite difficult and lengthy for many students, but it was also appropriate because the school's goal is comprehensive education, focusing on foreign languages ​​and skills alongside in-depth knowledge.

From the students' perspective, some felt the English exam was very difficult, while others felt it was of moderate difficulty. Nguyen Duc Quang Huy from Bac Ninh shared:"English is suitable for high-achieving students at the provincial level and those specializing in languages; many other students find it difficult."

I have a passion for learning about people and society, and I know that the University is a leading educational institution in the country for social sciences and humanities. So when I heard that the University was holding an entrance exam, I registered to take the exam hoping to win a place in the specialized Literature class."
