The 23rd Conference of the Standing Committee of the Trade Union Cluster of 5 Universities was recently held in Da Nang City. This year's conference was hosted by the Standing Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). The conference focused on two main issues through two panel discussions: “Regulations on Workplace Culture in Universities” and “Improving the Professional Skills of Female Staff and Faculty in Universities.” Attending the conference were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Kim Dinh (Standing Committee Member of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, President of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung (President of the Trade Union of Da Nang University), and representatives from the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of five universities: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, National Economics University, University of Natural Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and University of Civil Engineering. The conference heard presentations and opinions from the five universities on the development of workplace culture regulations and the issue of improving the professional skills of female staff and faculty in universities. The opinions reflected the current state of workplace culture and the work of improving the professional skills of female staff and faculty in their respective universities. The feasible proposals and solutions put forward by the delegates serve as a useful reference for research institutions to apply to their own specific situations. The conference emphasized that developing a "Regulation on Workplace Culture in Universities" is an urgent task for each university in the current period. Along with establishing and implementing discipline and cultural norms within universities, the work of improving the qualifications of female staff and faculty members in universities needs to be given more attention through specific policies and measures by the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the Trade Union Executive Committee of each university. With nearly 20 papers and speeches, the conference suggested new directions for thematic discussions, delving deeper into specific content in developing the workplace culture regulation as well as improving the professional skills and expertise of female staff and faculty members in universities. This serves as the initial basis for the Standing Committee of the 5 University Trade Union Cluster to continue discussions and find the most effective measures to modernize the working environment and improve the skills of female staff, contributing to enhancing the prestige and position of each university. Speaking at the conference, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – emphasized: The issues discussed at the conference are fundamental and urgent matters in the process of building and developing each university. The 5 University Trade Union Cluster needs to focus more deeply on developing a comprehensive document regulating school culture that can be applied in all universities in Vietnam. These regulations need to clarify the requirements for cultural conduct in universities; for order, discipline, and work ethics; and especially emphasize the culture of quality work in universities. Professor Dr. Professor Nguyen Van Khanh affirmed that the training and development of female staff and officials in the University also needs more specific and practical measures and regulations. He hoped that, with the rich tradition of the cluster of five key universities' trade unions, the Standing Committees of the universities' trade unions would continue to research and exchange ideas to propose truly effective recommendations and advise the Party and government leaders of the five universities in the process of building and implementing the university's development strategy in the present and future. At the end of the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Xuan Khang – Chairman of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – respectfully handed over the hosting rights of the 24th Conference to the Standing Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Natural Sciences.
