The "Responsibility" round
On April 20th and 21st, the first Consulting Skills Competition, the second round of the presentation competition on "Responsibility," took place with the participation of eight teams: History, Philosophy, Tourism Studies, Social Work, Archival Studies and Office Management, Literature, Management Science, and Sociology.Representatives from each team presented their work for 5 minutes, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the current training model; analyzing the advantages and difficulties students face during their studies; the responsibilities of academic advisors, training unit leaders, functional departments, and the university; and proposing solutions and recommendations. In addition, the teams directly discussed their presentations with the judging panel. The questions focused on the responsibilities and roles of academic advisors, the necessary skills for them, and the impact of current training programs on their work. Some of the teams' proposals and solutions were highly appreciated by the judging panel, such as: The History Department's suggestions addressed the difficulties students face in credit-based training and clarified the responsibilities of academic advisors. The solution of requiring students to access the websites http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/ and http://dt.ussh.edu.vn/ to search for information contributes to reducing the workload for the University (especially the Training Department), the Faculty, and academic advisors; while simultaneously fostering students' awareness, responsibility, and autonomy. This solution was considered groundbreaking because students themselves would be the active and creative participants. The solution of establishing a mechanism for regular meetings between the faculty's leadership, training assistants, academic advisors, and student representatives from the Philosophy Department was also highly practical. The Faculty of Management Science has put forward reasonable solutions and proposals suitable for the current situation, such as: organizing skills and professional training and regularly providing complete official information to academic advisors... Concluding the "Responsibility" round with two parts, written and presentation, the four teams with the highest total scores to continue to participate in the "Creativity" round are: Philosophy, History, Management Science, and Literature.
