On July 12, 2010, the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a training session for volunteers participating in the 2010 Summer Volunteer Program. In the morning, the volunteers of the Summer Volunteer Team in Son La listened to Associate Professor Hoang Luong speak about the customs and traditions of ethnic minorities as well as the socio-economic situation in Son La in general and Tan Lap commune (Moc Chau - Son La), where the school's volunteer team is operating during the summer, in particular. In the afternoon, on the 4th floor of building H, Ms. Nguyen Tra My (Hanoi Student Cultural Center, who has participated in summer volunteer activities for many years) shared her experiences and disseminated information about activities such as summer volunteer songs, songs about youth, and fun games that the teams could incorporate into this summer volunteer program. Besides the recently concluded exam support program, the school's Youth Union also has 8 summer activity teams, including 6 teams promoting the thousand-year history of Thang Long-Hanoi in the inner city of Hanoi and 2 volunteer teams in the highlands. These include the University's volunteer team operating in Tan Lap commune (Moc Chau - Son La) and the team from the Faculty of Sociology, traveling to Ba Trai - Ba Vi. It is expected that on July 13th, the University's Youth Union will continue to organize training for the teams promoting the culture of Thang Long-Hanoi, a thousand years old. The two volunteer teams in Son La and Ba Vi will depart on the morning of July 15th and return to Hanoi no later than August 5th. With the motto "Safe - Economical - Effective," this is an opportunity for the Youth Union members and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to demonstrate their professional skills, intellect, and enthusiasm to contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of several localities and to the activities commemorating the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
