During the meeting, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a member unit of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The University has extensive cooperation with universities around the world. It has signed more than 200 cooperation agreements with universities and educational institutions in the region and around the world. To achieve its goal of becoming a research university in the future, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities hopes to receive more support from foreign partners in interdisciplinary research and training across many fields. Therefore, the Vice Rector believes that the visit of Dr. Eva Voldřichová Beránková is a good opportunity for the University to promote better relations with Charles University – Czech Republic in particular and universities in the Czech Republic in general.

In response, Dr. Eva Voldřichová Beránková expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and the discussion of cooperation opportunities. She stated that cooperation with universities in Vietnam is one of the important goals of Charles University and the Czech Republic in general. Therefore, she wishes to develop cooperation in teaching and research with the University in fields such as Vietnamese Studies, the Vietnamese language, and Literature. Student and faculty exchange is also an important area of cooperation. Specifically, the Department of Vietnamese Studies and the Vietnamese Language, along with the Department of Literature of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, will serve as the liaison for cooperation between the two sides. A joint cooperation agreement will be the goal for both parties in the future.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh welcomed the proposals of Dr. Eva Voldřichová Beránková and hoped that both sides would soon put the cooperation ideas into practice. The Vice Rector also suggested several activities such as organizing a joint international conference on Czech literature, culture, and art, as well as organizing language training and teaching activities for students from both sides. In particular, the two universities agreed to provide tuition fee waivers for eligible students studying at Charles University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. These activities will contribute to the dissemination of Czech culture in Vietnam and help strengthen relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic in general.
