Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Claudio Gutierrez shares about Argentina's foreign policy on the "Malvinas Islands Issue"
I also think that Vietnam and Argentina in particular and South American countries in general have similarities in people's lives, in revolutions, or wars for independence. That is important. Today's meeting will bring a lot of information and knowledge to students and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities."
In addition to sharing about the country and people of Argentina, Ambassador Gutierrez and Mr. Juan P. Volken mentioned Argentina's foreign policy, focusing on the "Malvinas Islands Question", which is the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom over the Malvinas, South Georgias, the South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime space. This dispute has been going on for hundreds of years.
Mr. Juan Pablo Volken answered questions from lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
When this issue was raised, many attendees thought of the “Dispute over the Paracel and Spratly Islands” between Vietnam and China. After listening to the Ambassador’s discussions, many opinions were expressed regarding this issue.
Lecturer Vu Anh Thu (Faculty of International Studies) asked: “The dispute over the Malvinas Islands. When talking about the method of occupation, I think of China’s occupation of the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. Argentina raised the issue with the United Nations and considered it a dispute. The dispute continues even though Argentina has many grounds? Why doesn’t Argentina sue in the International Court?
Lecturer Nguyen Van Dap (Faculty of International Studies) also wondered: "Will Argentina's new President affect Argentina's future political and foreign policy views and policies?"
