Professor Nguyen Van Kim believes that dialogue between the university's leadership and students will help the University of Social Sciences and Humanities become even better.

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet – Political and Student Affairs Department, VNU Hanoi; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University; faculty members who are leaders of departments under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and VNU Hanoi, along with nearly 500 students who are class leaders, Youth Union and Student Association leaders from various courses in the university.

Speaking at the dialogue session, Professor Nguyen Van Kim stated the program's objective: "Through today's dialogue, each student will gain a better understanding of their role, function, rights, and responsibilities in their studies and self-cultivation, so that they can become excellent students, preparing for future careers."

I propose a truly open and democratic working spirit so that the conditions and environment for our learning and development will become even better. Policies and guidelines will be implemented more fully and seriously. Everyone will understand and implement these policies and guidelines effectively.”

This year's dialogue session differs from previous years in that the 500 students present today are class officers, Youth Union branch secretaries, and Student Council presidents. Representatives from all Youth Union and Student Council organizations are present, and on behalf of nearly 6000 full-time students, they have questions for the various departments in the university.

Over 500 delegates, including heads of departments and offices, along with student leaders from classes, youth organizations, and student associations, attended the dialogue session.

The dialogue session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim; Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu – Head of the Student Affairs and Services Department; and Dr. Tran Bach Hieu – Secretary of the University's Youth Union. Several conclusions from the previous year's dialogue session were also presented, focusing on four main points.

Firstly, the issues raised in the university leadership's dialogue with students during the 2014-2015 academic year have been addressed to varying degrees by departments both inside and outside the university. Overall, the best possible solutions have been found to student requests related to student affairs, facilities, finance, etc.

The dialogue was chaired by Dr. Tran Bach Hieu, Secretary of the Youth Union (left), Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University, and Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu, Head of the Student Affairs and Services Department.

Secondly, the issues that students are most concerned about are school discipline, especially exam regulations and wearing student ID cards. After one year, the number of violations of exam regulations has decreased from 138 to 42. The wearing of student ID cards has not been well implemented, especially among third-year and fourth-year students.

Thirdly, the facilities have been improved, such as lecture halls and the surrounding environment. However, access control remains inadequate, with instances of law violations occurring in the connecting buildings AB and BC. Many teachers do not wear their ID badges during class and fail to maintain discipline, such as managing student attendance. A major concern for students is the lack of improvement in the service attitude of the parking attendants.

Fourth, the coordination between departments within the school and units of VNU is quite good. However, students are not entirely satisfied with the library's services, especially regarding the lack of reading space and reference materials.

After filtering and grouping the students' questions, the 15 functional departments of the University successively answered the students' inquiries. The Student Affairs and Services Department, the Information and Library Center, and the National Defense and Security Education Center of Vietnam National University, Hanoi also diligently answered the questions of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Lecturer Dinh Viet Hai answers students' questions for the Training Department.

Among the responses, several received significant attention from students. Regarding the small and cramped classroom space, Mr. Dinh Viet Hai, on behalf of the Training Department, responded: “Regarding the small classrooms, the Training Department acknowledges that the desks and learning space are limited. This is especially true for students in English classes; the feeling of crampedness is real. It's hot in the summer and crowded in the winter.”

This story keeps repeating itself. But the learning space is limited, and the number of students per class must meet the minimum standard of 30 students/class. We often have to adjust class sizes to suit the situation. The general policy is to try to minimize this problem. We will try to declare classes as having 30 students.”

Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu, on behalf of the Student Affairs Department, addressed the issue of many strangers entering the school and its connection to ID card wearing: “Wearing ID cards is mandatory for students. Students must wear ID cards when attending classes and entering the school grounds because recently, students have complained about something the school hasn't been able to address: the connecting courtyard between buildings AB and BC is rife with illegal activities because we can't manage outsiders. We don't know if they are students of the school or not. Therefore, students must wear their ID cards when coming to school.”

Mr. Dang Ngoc Trai, representing the Administrative and General Affairs Department, responded to the issue regarding the service attitude of the bus company's staff.

The issue of the parking attendants' service attitude was also a concern. Mr. Dang Ngoc Trai from the General Administration Department clearly stated: "The school's parking lot is located at the side gate of alley 336 Nguyen Trai. If there is any poor service attitude, students should report it to room 401, building E. We commit to conducting an investigation and will immediately request that the employee be dismissed the following day."

In reality, many students park their vehicles at the front gate, which is under the management of the University of Natural Sciences. The school can only offer suggestions to the security and parking management department there.”
