On May 23, 2016, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy (China) led by Professor Vuong Thong (Political Department). Also attending the meeting were representatives from the Faculty of Linguistics and the Department of Cooperation and Development.

Promoting cooperation with Yunnan Judicial Police Academy (China)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The University currently has 16 faculties, 12 centers and research institutes as well as more than 10,000 students and trainees of all levels and training systems. In 1995, the University established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from bachelor to doctoral levels in Chinese studies. Many students from Yunnan province have studied majors such as International Studies, Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University within the framework of 1+3 and 2+2 training programs.

Professor Vuong Thong said that the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy wishes to further strengthen the exchange relationship between the two schools through activities such as exchanging lecturers, as well as exchanges and meetings between students of the two schools. According to the cooperation agreement signed between the two schools in early March, the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy has sent 19 students to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities within the framework of the Vietnamese language training cooperation program between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Academy. The program lasts 10 months, from early March to December 30, 2016. Professor Vuong Thong believes that students of the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy will have good learning conditions at a university with great position and prestige like the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In response, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh pledged that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will create the best conditions for accommodation, living, and learning environment for Chinese students to study at the University. The University will also organize extracurricular activities and exchanges between students of the two schools to further strengthen mutual understanding. The Faculty of Linguistics and the Office of Cooperation and Development will be the focal points for implementing cooperation activities between the two sides.

Yunnan Judicial Police Academy, China was established in 1980. The campus of the Academy covers an area equivalent to 360 plots of land. The Academy has 4 Faculties and 1 Department with 3,200 students and 210 staff. The Academy was established with the aim of training judicial police officers in fields such as civil, economic and political affairs.
