Promoting cooperation with the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy (China)

On May 23, 2016, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy (China), led by Professor Wang Tong (Political Affairs Department). Representatives from the Faculty of Linguistics and the Cooperation and Development Department also participated in the meeting.

Promoting cooperation with the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy (China)

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the social sciences and humanities. The university currently has 16 faculties, 12 centers and research institutes, as well as over 10,000 students and trainees at various levels and training programs. In 1995, the University established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and has been providing training from bachelor's to doctoral levels in Chinese Studies. Many students from Yunnan Province have studied subjects such as International Studies, Vietnamese Studies, and Vietnamese language at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University within the framework of 1+3 and 2+2 training programs.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) shared proposals for cooperation with Professor Vuong Thong.

Professor Wang Tong stated that the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy wishes to further strengthen the exchange relationship between the two universities through activities such as faculty exchanges, as well as exchanges and meetings between students from both institutions. According to the cooperation agreement signed between the two universities in early March, the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy has sent 19 students to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the framework of a joint Vietnamese language training program between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Academy. The program lasts 10 months, from the beginning of March to December 30, 2016. Professor Wang Tong believes that students from the Yunnan Judicial Police Academy will have excellent learning conditions at a university with such a high status and prestige as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In response, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh pledged that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities would provide the best possible conditions regarding accommodation, living arrangements, and a conducive learning environment for Chinese students studying at the University. The University will also organize extracurricular activities and exchanges between students from both universities to further strengthen mutual understanding. The Department of Linguistics and the Office of Cooperation and Development will be the focal points for implementing cooperation activities between the two sides.

The Yunnan Judicial Police Academy in China was established in 1980. The academy's campus covers an area equivalent to 360 plots of land. It comprises four faculties and one department, with 3,200 students and 210 staff members. The academy was founded with the goal of training police officers to assist in judicial matters such as civil, economic, and political affairs.
