The conference attracted the attention of many scholars at home and abroad because migration is considered a "hot" issue today, not only for any particular country, especially with its great influence on the general development situation of the world in recent times.
At the conference, domestic and international scholars analyzed the causes of the migration crisis in Europe and the responses of EU member states to this issue. At the same time, the presentations and common concerns of the conference delegates also focused on issues related to migration in the Southeast Asian region.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Chayan Vaddhanaphuti - Regional Center for Social Sciences and Sustainable Development - Chiang Mai University - Thailand commented: "Although it is not a new issue, migration is considered one of the macro concerns of each country. With the current conditions and context, each country needs to have a new mindset, a way of behaving and solving problems appropriate to its own characteristics, especially the issue of returning refugees.
ASEAN countries are currently facing the problem of internal refugees. And the most difficult problem for refugees is the concern for education for the descendants of refugees to improve development conditions, towards a brighter future. ”
The presentations at the workshop all agreed that international migration is considered one of the prominent global issues, affecting international relations as well as the development of each individual country.
Speakers also focused on issues such as: What are the causes of mass migration? How does migration affect integration and unity in the EU and ASEAN? Which groups in the EU and ASEAN will benefit from international migration? Which groups in the EU and ASEAN will be threatened by immigrants? How are EU countries and EU institutions responding to the migrant crisis? What role does ASEAN play in addressing the migration issue in Southeast Asia?
“In order to proactively respond to and resolve the migration crisis, learning from experiences from countries around the world and ASEAN, Vietnam needs to focus on two groups of solutions: Socio-economic solutions - (Macroeconomic stability, continuing the policy of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, etc.); Group of solutions on politics and foreign affairs - (Continue to create conditions for access to policies for all people; Seek international support and strengthen the implementation of foreign affairs and cultural exchange programs; Actively participate in international and regional forums on migration and refugee issues to be able to prepare scenarios for specific situations that may be faced, ...)" - Dr. Dau Tuan Nam - Academy of Politics and Public Administration Region I - Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics expressed his opinion. |
