Promoting cooperation with Yunnan University of Finance and Economics (China)

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The University currently has 16 faculties, 12 centers and research institutes as well as more than 10,000 students and trainees of all levels and training systems. In 1995, the University established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from bachelor to doctoral levels in Chinese studies. Many students from Yunnan province have studied majors such as International Studies, Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University within the framework of 1+3, 2+2 training programs. The Rector proposed expanding cooperation in the field of training to meet the needs of students as well as promote research in areas such as Chinese Studies, Vietnam-China relations, etc.

Associate Professor Kim Quoc Hung said that Yunnan University of Finance and Economics wishes to further strengthen the exchange relationship between the two schools through activities such as lecturer exchanges, as well as exchanges and meetings between students of the two schools. On its part, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics will send 18 students majoring in Vietnamese to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in August this year and continue this activity in the coming years. Associate Professor Kim Quoc Hung believes that students of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics will have good learning conditions at a university with great status and prestige like the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In response, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh pledged that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will create the best conditions for accommodation, living, and learning environment for Chinese students to study at the University. The University will also further promote the relationship between the two sides to a large number of staff and students to further strengthen mutual understanding. The Faculty of Linguistics and the Faculty of Oriental Studies will be the focal points for implementing cooperation activities between the two sides.

Yunnan University of Finance and Economics - China is a multidisciplinary university. The school is not only strong in training in Economics, Management, Law but also trains in fields such as: Philosophy, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Engineering. The school was founded in 1951 and was designated by the Yunnan Provincial Government as one of the province's key universities in 1995.
