In the joyful atmosphere of celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th and commemorating its first anniversary, the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities recently held a ceremony to express gratitude to the teachers, administrators, and scientists who have contributed to the school's development.

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities - could not hide his emotion when speaking about the early days of the school's establishment, and at the same time expressed his gratitude for the great contributions of scientists and administrators who helped realize the idea of ​​establishing a specialized school in the field of social sciences and humanities. Professor Nguyen Quang Lieu expressed his deep gratitude to those who laid the first bricks in building the school and to the teachers currently teaching there.

During the meeting, Professor Vu Duong Ninh (Chairman of the School's Retired Teachers Association) also extended his warmest wishes to the teachers and students of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities, and affirmed that the decisive factor in the school's development is its team of teachers and staff. The school has implemented solutions to select many experienced and dedicated teachers. With this investment, he hopes that the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities will produce excellent students, providing a high-quality source of input for universities both domestically and internationally.

Professor Nguyen Quang Ngoc (former Head of the History Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, former Director of the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) said that he was deeply moved when he held the School's commemorative journal celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th in his hands, reading the essays and poems that the teachers and students had jointly created. He has profound faith in the achievements and development of the School in the future. He also agrees with the goal of elite education based on comprehensive education that the School is implementing, especially strengthening foreign languages, life skills, and adaptability education.

Professor Nguyen Van Khanh (Chairman of the Science and Training Council, former Party Secretary, and former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) congratulated the High School on its successful first enrollment. The High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities is built on the foundation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – a leading training and research center in the country in the field of social sciences and humanities – which is a significant advantage and a solid foundation for the school's future. In today's interdisciplinary scientific era, the school's educational philosophy of comprehensive education combined with specialized education will help create global citizens who not only meet the needs of national development but also have the ability to integrate with the region and the world. In addition to strengthening cooperation and exchange with other specialized high schools in Vietnam, promoting cooperative relationships with specialized high schools worldwide, especially in Southeast Asia and Asia, is extremely necessary. The teacher also expressed his belief that the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to develop, living up to the trust of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and society.

Professor Pham Quang Minh, former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, shared: November is always a very meaningful time for the teaching profession and educators, an opportunity for society and students to demonstrate the tradition of respecting teachers. This month, the 206th session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), recently held in France, approved the dossier commemorating the 650th anniversary of the death of the renowned figure Chu Van An. Thus, after Nguyen Trai, President Ho Chi Minh, and Nguyen Du, Chu Van An is the fourth person to be honored by UNESCO. With pride and respect for someone who was once the Headmaster at Quoc Tu Giam – the predecessor of Hanoi University – he believes that the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities – the youngest descendant of Quoc Tu Giam – will produce generations of outstanding individuals for the country.

Professor Nguyen Van Kim – former Party Secretary and Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – expressed his joy at seeing the students having a learning and development environment at the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities, and agreed with the development direction that the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities is pursuing. He hoped that the three main resources: the teachers of the High School, the teachers and staff from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the parents would work together to bring the best things to the students, so that they can develop comprehensively.

Associate Professor Tran Thi Minh Hoa, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, stated that the idea of ​​establishing a specialized high school for social sciences and humanities has existed for a long time, but the journey from idea to reality has been arduous. From a management perspective, she said that the University has been, is, and will always create favorable conditions to further accelerate the development of the specialized high school for social sciences and humanities. In particular, based on her experience and observations, she noted that the more developed a country is, the more attention it pays to the field of social sciences and humanities. Therefore, the path the University is choosing will have a bright future because social sciences and humanities in Vietnam will continue to develop strongly. She expressed her confidence in the teachers of the school, hoping that they will utilize their abilities and responsibilities to impart knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes to their students, so that they can develop comprehensively and become useful citizens for the country.

The ceremony was also delighted to welcome the presence of parents from the School's Parent Representative Board. The parents stated that after observing their children's studies and activities for three months, they have placed complete trust in the teachers and the school. The Parent Board hopes to continue working alongside the school in educating their children and strives to ensure that the first graduating class of the Specialized High School for Social Sciences and Humanities will leave a worthy mark.
