2020 Undergraduate Admissions: Vietnam National University, Hanoi organizes its own aptitude test as a contingency plan if the national high school graduation exam is not held.
In 2020, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) will recruit 10,320 students across 131 undergraduate programs/majors. VNU's admission methods are diverse and varied, offering candidates many pathways to VNU, such as direct admission, admission based on A-Level certificates, SAT scores, IELTS (or equivalent international English certificates), and the total score of two entrance exams. However, the majority of candidates rely on their 2020 entrance exam results to gain admission to VNU.
 
Currently, using the results of the National High School Graduation Examination is the most feasible and preferred option for the 2020 admissions season. Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) allocates over 80% of its admissions quota to candidates using the results of the National High School Graduation Examination. Students should focus on reviewing the 12th-grade curriculum and prepare themselves well for the National High School Graduation Examination to be considered for admission to VNU. To date, experts predict that the Covid-19 pandemic will be brought under control, allowing students nationwide to return to school soon. In the event that the Covid-19 pandemic persists and students are unable to return to school before June 15th, potentially leading to the postponement of the National High School Graduation Examination, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has prepared a contingency plan for admissions. Candidates can submit applications online for preliminary screening. Those with high school academic results meeting the preliminary entrance requirements for each VNU program will participate in a shortened aptitude test: Mathematics – Literature (or essay) – Foreign Language...

It is important to emphasize that, at this time, the separate entrance exam of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is only a contingency plan. Detailed information regarding the exam structure, format, and schedule is currently being researched and adjusted by specialized departments, following the principle of simplifying the exam while ensuring high differentiation; the format and content of the exam will be compatible with the knowledge covered in the National High School Graduation Exam. Therefore, candidates should not be overly concerned or worried about VNU's separate entrance exam if they have prepared well for the National High School Graduation Exam. The admission combinations will also be adjusted to suit the majors using VNU's separate entrance exam. Accordingly, schools/faculties will use combinations of 2, 3, or 4 exams/components... for admission. Detailed information on the contingency exam plan and the registration combinations will be announced before June 15, 2020.

Applicants can register for an unlimited number of preferences and will be admitted to their highest-ranked preference (preference 1 being the highest priority) if they meet the passing score for the registered major.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) advises candidates to focus on reviewing knowledge and completing sample exams in the format of the National High School Graduation Examination during this period.
