According to Professor Pham Quang Minh, the school's principal, this is the third year the alumni association has been in operation, but it is the first time the school has organized a meeting for outstanding alumni.
Since January 2016 – when he began his tenure as Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) – based on a suggestion from an American professor, he has nurtured the idea of organizing a network of alumni – those who had studied and trained at the university, had enough time to gain experience, and contributed their acquired knowledge to society – to have the opportunity to return, share their experiences, and support the university and future generations of students.

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) delivered a speech at the meeting.
The reunion attracted the participation of 21 outstanding alumni from various departments. They represent different generations of students, currently holding important positions and maintaining close ties with their alma mater.
On behalf of the alumni of the 11th graduating class of the History Faculty, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Duc Cuong (currently the President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association) expressed his joy and emotion at participating in the meeting of outstanding generations of students. The Associate Professor did not forget to mention the Hanoi University of Literature, Hanoi University, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) with pride and strong belief in the quality of graduates who have left behind the reputation of one of the strongest universities in the country in training in social sciences.
Among the representatives of "successful alumni" present at the meeting, there were also many who achieved success in fields unrelated to their studies. They shared that knowledge of social sciences and humanities is fundamental and essential, helping them achieve success in every job they do.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Quyen - a former student of the Psychology Department, Class of 47, currently the Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecommunications Company (Military Telecommunications Group) - shared: The social science knowledge learned at university is the foundation and key to success. It is the necessary "energy" for each individual to shine in their job position, with sufficient emotional intelligence (EQ) to act as a catalyst connecting resources, with people being the fundamental resource.
Mr. Quyen hopes that, with its current position, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) will strengthen connections: between the university and society; between training and human resource needs; and between generations of students to create synergy and contribute to the overall development of society.
The only female representative at the meeting, Ms. Nhữ Thị Ngần - a former student of the Tourism Faculty, Class of 2018 - General Director of Hanoi Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company - continued to emphasize the importance of "connection," and expressed her wish for the school to focus more on career guidance for students before graduation to shorten unemployment periods and minimize retraining time for employers.

Ms. Nhữ Thị Ngần delivered a speech at the ceremony.
Expressing gratitude for the valuable insights shared by the alumni, Professor Pham Quang Minh, the Rector of the university, affirmed that the meeting was truly meaningful and practical. He also acknowledged the alumni's contributions to the overall development of the university. In the future, in addition to basic research, the university will focus more on applied research, strengthen the connection between training and the human resource needs of society, and enhance connections with alumni to leverage their combined strength to promote the university's development.
